Measuring Cups & Jugs

A measuring cup takes the guesswork out of dilution: measure the concentrate, then add water to the ratio on the label. Too strong wastes product and can stain trim, and too weak will not clean. We carry the Maxshine Measuring Cup in two sizes, 100ml and 1 litre.

How to choose

  • 100ml: for measuring concentrate, where a few millilitres change the strength of a bottle.
  • 1 litre: for measuring water, or concentrate for a big batch such as a full pressure sprayer.

Good to know

  • Reading a ratio: 1:10 means one part product to ten parts water, so a 1 litre bottle at 1:10 takes about 90ml of concentrate, and at 1:100 about 10ml.
  • Rinse the cup between products, so an acid wheel cleaner does not end up in your next mix.
  • Label every bottle you fill with the product and ratio. Once diluted, one cleaner looks much like another. The mixer bottles in Mixing & Dilution Accessories are marked with dilution ratios.

How much concentrate do I need for a 1:10 dilution?

One part concentrate to ten parts water, so 11 parts in all. A 1 litre bottle takes about 90ml of concentrate topped up with water, and a 500ml bottle about 45ml. At 1:100 a litre takes about 10ml. Our dilution ratio guide has a calculator for any ratio and bottle size.
