Wool Pads

Wool pads cut faster than foam or microfibre, which makes them the choice for heavy correction: deep swirls, sanding marks and oxidation, especially on hard clear coats. The range covers Lake Country lambswool, foamed wool and a double sided 8 inch cutting pad, Rupes Blue Wool, Menzerna lambswool, AutoBrite Hybrid Wool and ShineMate's 1.6 inch micro wool pads.

How to choose

• Rotary or DA: the double sided 8 inch pad is for a rotary. Short, dense wool on a foam backing, such as the Lake Country foamed wool and Rupes Blue Wool, also works on a dual action.
• Pile: longer, looser wool cuts hardest and leaves the most haze; short, dense pile cuts a little less and finishes better.
• Size: ShineMate's 1.6 inch pads fit a nano polisher for badges, door handle recesses and tight edges.

Good to know

• Wool leaves haze, and on a rotary often holograms, so follow with Finishing Foam Pads and one of our Finishing Polishes.
• New wool pads shed loose fibres. Brush them out before first use, then brush or spur the pad between sections to lift the fibres and clear spent compound.

Is a wool pad better than a microfibre pad?

For heavy correction, often yes: wool cuts faster than foam or microfibre, especially on hard clear coats. It also leaves more haze, so the job finishes on a soft foam pad with a finishing polish either way.
