The Drivers HQ Style 2 Decal Vinyl - 240mm x 65mm — Car Decals at The Drivers HQ, Ilkeston

About the range

Car Decals

Logo and lettering decals for windows, panels and bumpers. The range runs from our own TDHQ decals in 130mm, 280mm and 500mm to Status Error, EuroStance, Crossed Dagger Apparel and Gyeon logos, plus a toffee wheel for a drill that takes old vinyl off.

How to choose

  • Size: most titles give the size, so measure the spot before you order.
  • Glass or paint: a decal on glass comes off cleanly and leaves no sun-faded outline.

Good to know

  • Apply on a mild day to a surface cleaned with Panel Wipe & IPA: vinyl grips poorly on wax and below about 10°C.
  • Squeegee from the centre out, peel the transfer tape back slowly and keep the wash mitt off the edges for two days.
  • To remove one, warm it and peel slowly, or keep the toffee wheel moving so it does not heat the paint. Tar & Glue Removers clear the glue left behind.

Is there a difference between a decal and a sticker?

Yes. A cut vinyl decal has no background, so only the lettering or logo sits on the car, and it goes on with transfer tape. A printed sticker, such as a slap sticker, carries full artwork on a white or clear base and is pressed on in one piece.

Are car decals legal in the UK?

Generally yes. The limits are the driver's view and the number plates. On the windscreen, the DVSA MOT inspection manual (section 3.1) treats anything that significantly affects the driver's view of the road through the area the wipers clear as a major defect, which fails the test. On the plates, gov.uk says the registration must not be altered so it is hard to read, which can mean a fine of up to £1,000 and an MOT fail.
