Microfibre Washes

Microfibre washes are laundry detergents for detailing cloths, drying towels, mitts and pads. They lift out the wax, polish and sealant residue that builds up in the fibres, which is what makes an old towel smear and stop absorbing. The range covers CarPro MFX, Dunking Biscuit Dynamic, FibreKing, Duel Laundry, Sam's Detailing and the Shiny Garage Enzyme wash.

How to choose

  • Enzyme or general: the Shiny Garage Enzyme wash uses enzymes to break down organic dirt such as bugs and grease, which suits heavily soiled wash mitts and interior cloths. The others are general microfibre detergents for everyday loads of paint towels.
  • Trying one first: Dunking Biscuit Dynamic also comes as a sample, so you can test it before buying a full bottle.

Good to know

  • Never add fabric softener: it coats the fibres and stops them absorbing. Measure the dose from the label rather than pouring by eye, as too much detergent leaves its own residue.
  • Wash warm rather than hot, and dry on low heat or on a line. High heat hardens microfibre.
  • Keep cotton out of the load, as it sheds lint into microfibre, and wash wheel and engine cloths apart from paint towels.

Can you wash microfibre cloths in a washing machine?

Yes. Use a microfibre detergent at the dose on its label, wash warm rather than hot and leave out fabric softener, which coats the fibres. Keep cotton and dirty wheel cloths out of the load, then dry on low heat or on a line.
