Plastic & Vinyl Cleaners

Plastic and vinyl cleaners lift dust, grease, sun cream and grime off dashboards, door cards, consoles and other hard trim inside the car. The range runs from ready-to-use interior cleaners such as Koch-Chemie ASC, Alchemy So Clean, Shiny Garage Insider and Yum Interior, through all-purpose cleaners from AutoBead, Sonax, Koch-Chemie and 303, to interior detailers such as the AutoBead Interior Detailer for lighter cleans. For the outside of the car, the Sonax XTREME PPF + Vinyl Cleaner cleans paint protection film, vinyl wraps and matte paint.

How to choose

• Dust and fingerprints between cleans: an interior detailer, wiped on and buffed off. See Interior Quick Detailers.
• Dashboards, consoles and door cards: a ready-to-use interior cleaner from Interior Cleaners or Dashboard & Hard Surface Cleaners.
• Heavily soiled plastics, kick plates and footwells: an all-purpose cleaner diluted to the label, from Interior APCs.
• Wrapped panels, PPF and matte paint: the Sonax XTREME PPF + Vinyl Cleaner, sprayed onto the wet panel during the wash, worked in with a soft sponge and rinsed off.

Good to know

• Spray onto a cloth or brush rather than straight onto the dash, so the mist stays off the glass and switches.
• Try a stronger all-purpose cleaner on a hidden area first and do not let it dry on the surface.
• Cleaned plastics are left bare. A product from Plastic & Vinyl Protectants puts the finish and protection back.

How do I clean car dashboard plastics?

Dust the dash first, then mist an interior cleaner onto a microfibre cloth or soft brush, not onto the dash, and work it over the plastic. Wipe it dry with a clean cloth. On textured plastic a soft detailing brush lifts dirt out of the grain. Our car interior cleaner guide compares the cleaners.
