About ShineMate

ShineMate (often written Shine Mate) makes polishing tool systems for body shop refinishing and car care detailing: electric polishers, sanding and polishing pads and polishing compounds designed to work together. It has its own factory of more than 15,000 square metres in Yongkang, Zhejiang Province, China, with its China operations centre in Hangzhou, where it also runs a technical training centre. ShineMate says its production management is ISO 9001:2008 certified and its products comply with CCC, CB, CE, C-tick, EPCS and PSE standards. Its polishers are built to reduce operator fatigue, with balance control to cut vibration.

ShineMate Black Diamond pads

Black Diamond is ShineMate's range of diamond-patterned foam pads, covering every stage from compounding to finishing. The diamond face reduces polish splash and heat build-up, withstands heat and washing, and gives steady control, on both rotary and dual action polishers. Choose by colour:

  • Green, heavy cutting: the most aggressive pad in the range, for deep scratches, overspray, 1200/1500 sanding marks and heavy oxidation. Green.
  • Yellow, cutting: an intensive cutting pad for deep scratches, overspray, severe swirl marks, 1500 sanding marks and heavy oxidation. Yellow.
  • Orange, light cutting: removes minor scratches and swirl marks and leaves a level, smooth surface. Orange.
  • Blue, polishing: removes 1500 and 2000 grit sanding marks, overspray and other surface defects. Blue.
  • Red, finishing: the softest step; with a finishing polish it removes ultra-fine swirls, car wash scratches and hazing, and it is the pad for glazes. Red.
  • Grey, wax: for applying waxes and sealants by machine. Grey.

The pads come in 4in, 6in and 7in to fit your backing plate. Start with the least aggressive pad that removes the defects, use a separate pad for each polish, and clean pads between panels. For heavier cutting there is also the blue microfibre cutting pad.
