About the range

Wet Sanding & Specialist Correction

This is the kit for defects a compound and pad cannot fix alone: runs, dust nibs and orange peel in clear coat, marks in glass and tarnished bare metal. It covers sanding discs and sheets from CarPro, Rupes and Colad, Rupes interface pads, CarPro CeriGlass and Sonax glass polishes, Lake Country glass pads, and metal polishes from Mothers, Angelwax, AutoBrite and Autobead.

How to choose

  • Wet Sanding Discs: discs fit a machine, the Colad sheets are for sanding by hand. Lower grits cut faster but leave deeper marks to polish out.
  • Interface Pads: a soft foam layer between backing plate and disc, so the disc follows curves.
  • Glass Compounds and Glass Polishing Pads: a glass polish and the firm pad that carries it, for wiper arcs, water spots and light scratches.
  • Metal Polishing: polishes for alloy, chrome and exhaust tips, plus the Mothers Powerball, which runs on a drill.

Good to know

  • Every sanding step removes clear coat: sand only the defect, with the finest grit that takes it out, keep the surface wet, then bring the gloss back with a compound and polish from Compounds & Polishes.

What are the disadvantages of wet sanding?

It takes off clear coat, which does not grow back, and leaves sanding marks of its own that have to be polished out afterwards with a compound and a polish. That is why it is kept for runs, dust nibs and orange peel that a compound cannot fix alone.
