About the range

Buffing & Finishing Towels

Buffing towels take off what you have just put on: wax, sealant, quick detailer, polish residue and coating. Because they touch freshly finished paint, they are softer than a general purpose cloth. The range runs from FibreKing Gold and Silver Label cloths in 36 packs and the extra soft Mammoth Canary towels to Koch-Chemie coating towels and Purestar Speed Polish packs.

How to choose

  • Weight: plush 400 to 500 GSM towels are the softest for buffing off wax and detailer; a lighter towel, like the 300 GSM Koch-Chemie Coating Towel, is the usual choice for levelling a coating.
  • Edgeless or edged: edgeless towels, such as the FibreKing Duplex, Mammoth Infinity and 500 GSM Super Plush, have no stitched hem to mark soft paint.

Good to know

  • Fold each towel in four for eight clean faces and turn to a fresh one as it loads up.
  • Towels used on a coating go stiff once it cures in the fibres, so keep them for that job only. Wash the rest in Microfibre Washes, without fabric softener.

Can I use a microfibre towel to buff my car?

Yes, that is the job buffing towels are made for. Pick a soft, plush one, ideally edgeless so no hem can mark the paint, fold it in four and turn to a clean face as it loads up.
