About the range

Wash Mitts & Pads

A mitt or pad is what touches the paint during a contact wash, so it decides whether grit is lifted away or dragged across the panel. The range covers microfibre mitts such as the Mammoth Fluffmeister Flex, chenille mitts from Chemical Guys and ChemicalWorkz, wool and synthetic wool mitts from CarPro and AutoBrite, and wash pads such as the CarPro DabDab.

How to choose

  • Microfibre: a deep, soft pile that pulls grit up into the fibres, holds plenty of suds and can go in the washing machine.
  • Chenille: thick microfibre fingers that trap dirt between them and rinse out quickly in the bucket.
  • Wool: the softest touch and carries the most shampoo, but natural wool needs washing by hand and wears out sooner.
  • Mitt or pad: a pad is held flat in the palm and spreads the pressure evenly over big panels.

Good to know

Use one mitt for the upper panels and a second for the sills and lower bumpers, rinsing against a grit guard between panels. Wheels get their own mitt from Wheel Wash Mitts. Swap a dropped mitt for a clean one: grit deep in the pile does not always rinse out.

Are wash mitts good for cars?

Yes. A clean mitt with a deep pile is one of the safest ways to wash by hand, because it lifts grit up into the fibres instead of dragging it across the paint. Rinse it against a grit guard between panels so the grit stays in the bucket.

What is the difference between a wash mitt and a microfibre cloth?

A wash mitt has a deep pile that holds plenty of suds and pulls grit away from the paint, so it is made for the contact wash. A microfibre cloth has a shorter pile and is meant for wiping, buffing and taking off product residue.
