This is the lime green one of the ChemicalWorkz chenille mitts: fat lime green microfibre noodles on both sides and a black cuff printed with the ChemicalWorkz name. The picture shows it in its card sleeve. The same mitt comes in orange and red, which makes it easy to keep one colour for paint and another for wheels.

The ChemicalWorkz Chenille Wash Mitt in green is a micro chenille microfibre mitt for washing your car by hand. ChemicalWorkz calls it a reliable companion for every car washer, proven at removing dirt and grime for excellent wash results.

It measures 26 x 17 cm, has a black cuff and is made of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide, all microfibre. It is reusable and machine washable, and ChemicalWorkz says it is perfect for exterior surfaces or for lifting dirt from the interior. It comes in a resealable zip bag that keeps it safe from dirt, moisture, dust and UV light.

How To Use

Wash

  1. Pre-wash the car to loosen the worst of the dirt.
  2. Load the mitt with shampoo from your wash bucket.
  3. Wash one panel at a time from the top down with light pressure.
  4. Rinse the mitt in a clean water bucket before reloading.

Look after it

  1. Machine wash it at up to 40 degrees Celsius with a microfibre detergent.
  2. Never use fabric softener, and keep it out of the tumble dryer.
  3. Do not iron it, and store it in its resealable bag.

Top Tip: Keep one mitt for paint and another for wheels, so brake dust never touches the bodywork.

Chenille wash mitts. The micro chenille microfibre mitt lifts dirt away from the paint into its strands for a thorough hand wash. It measures 26 x 17cm, 80% polyester and 20% polyamide, with a black cuff, in blue, green, orange and red. Different colours make it easy to keep one mitt for paint and another for wheels.

Viscose wash pad. The Viscose Wash Pad is 24 x 17cm of 1,400gsm Korean microfibre (94% polyester, 6% viscose) around a foam core that soaks up wash water, with a narrower middle for a better grip.

Clay. The Magic Clay Bar comes as two 50g bars in Fine or Medium, for paint, glass, metal and plastic. It removes tree sap mist, insect remains, paint spatter, road tar, rail dust, overspray and industrial fallout, and the bars can be used several times. ChemicalWorkz strongly recommends a clay lubricant. The Clay Sponge replaces a bar with a polymer-coated sponge: wash and rinse the car, keep it wet, spray lubricant and glide it over the panel without pressing. ChemicalWorkz says it lasts much longer than a clay bar.

ChemicalWorkz swabs, tyre brush and drying

Swabs. The Detailing Swabs set holds 10 swabs in 5 designs with foam or microfibre tips, for vents, emblems and other tight spots inside and out. The Coating Swabs are five foam applicators on 9.5cm handles with a tapered 6.5cm tip, soft enough to work sealant or coating into grilles, multi-spoke wheels and brake calipers.

Ultimate Tyre Brush. The Ultimate Tyre Brush is 28cm long, with a non-slip comfort grip and extra soft bristles for scrubbing road grime off the tyre wall.

Magnetic Stripes. The Magnetic Stripes are 1,400gsm Shark Twisted Loop microfibre strips with built-in magnets, sold as a pair, each 26.5 x 5 x 1.5cm. Place them under a door mirror or another drip point after drying and they catch the water that would otherwise run down the door and leave spots.
