The ChemicalWorkz Magic Clay Bar Medium comes as two 50g bars of medium clay for decontaminating paint, glass, metal and plastic. ChemicalWorkz says claying is a necessary step before polishing or sealing, leaving a smoothness you can feel.

It removes tree sap mist, insect remains, paint spatter, road tar, rail dust, overspray and industrial fallout, and the bars can be used several times. ChemicalWorkz strongly recommends a clay lubricant, but the bars also work with water alone. Rub the bar in circles over a wet, washed panel in the shade until it feels smooth. How To Use

Prepare

  1. Wash the car, then park it in the shade.
  2. Flatten a piece of clay into a palm-sized pad.
  3. Spray clay lubricant or water onto one section.

Clay

  1. Rub the bar in circles over the wet section.
  2. Keep the surface wet as you work.
  3. Fold the clay to a clean face when it looks dirty.
  4. Repeat over the whole car, then wipe each section dry.

Top Tip: Use plenty of lubricant: the clay should glide over the paint, never drag.
