Interior Dressings

An interior dressing goes on after cleaning: it brings back the colour of tired, faded plastic, vinyl and rubber and leaves a matte or satin finish. The best sellers are Infinity Wax Finale and Deturner Interior Dressing, with Angelwax, Shiny Garage, Sonax, 303 and Koch-Chemie alongside.

How to choose

• Finish: Infinity Wax Finale, Angelwax AnGel and Sonax Profiline PlasticCare dry matte, while Deturner and Shiny Garage Satin leave a satin sheen. Keep shine off the top of the dashboard, where it reflects in the windscreen.
• Sun: Angelwax AnGel, Deturner and 303 Aerospace Protectant list UV protection to slow fading.
• Mats and outside trim: Koch-Chemie Gummifix is for rubber mats and plastic floors, where the finish must stay non-slip, and Sonax Profiline PlasticCare also works on exterior plastics.

Good to know

• Dress clean, dry plastic only, or you seal the dirt in. Clean first with a product from Interior Cleaners.
• Apply thinly with a pad from Applicator Pads and buff off the excess with a dry microfibre.
• Keep it off the steering wheel, pedals and gear knob, where a slippery finish is dangerous.

How do I make my car interior look better?
