Full Description

CarPro Perl is a concentrated, water-based dressing for tyres, plastics, rubber, vinyl and modern leather. It restores colour to faded materials and leaves a matte to semi-gloss finish, depending on how much you dilute it.

Perl dilutes up to 5:1, so one bottle covers many jobs. CarPro builds it on a waterborne acrylic-resin system with UV inhibitors, for more water repellency than a conventional dressing. Use it strong on tyres for the richest finish, or diluted on trim, engine bays and interiors.

Key Features

  • Water-based silicon oxide dressing
  • UV and water resistant
  • Dilutes up to 5:1 to suit each surface
  • Matte to semi-gloss finish, set by the dilution
  • For tyres, plastics, rubber, vinyl and leather trim
  • Sizes: 500ml, 1L and 4L

Expert Notes

Perl is the one bottle for most of the trim jobs on a car. Mixed strong, it gives tyres a richer semi-gloss look. Mixed at 1:5 it refreshes a dashboard without a greasy shine, which is why CarPro lists interiors and modern leather among its uses.

Because Perl is water-based and thinned with water, the finish is easy to control. Start with a weaker mix, look at it in daylight, then go stronger only where you want more gloss.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Tyres
  • Exterior plastics
  • Rubber trim
  • Vinyl
  • Engine bay plastics and rubber
  • Interior dash and plastics
  • Modern leather

Caution: Clean the surface first and dilute to suit the surface. Test on a hidden area of leather or interior trim before full use.

  2. Dilute Perl with water to suit the surface (see the dilutions).
  3. Pour into a sprayer bottle and shake well.

  5. Wipe off with a microfibre towel. Use a tyre applicator on tyres and a sponge applicator on rubber.

Dilutions (Perl to water)

  1. Tyres and rubber: 1:0 to 1:1.
  2. Engine bay: 1:1 to 1:3.
  3. Exterior plastics: 1:3.
  4. Interior, dash and leather: 1:5.

Top Tip: The less water you add, the glossier the finish. Use Perl strong on tyres and at 1:5 inside the car.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dilution should I use for CarPro Perl?

CarPro gives these ratios of Perl to water: tyres and rubber 1:0 to 1:1, engine bay 1:1 to 1:3, exterior plastics 1:3, and interior, dash and leather 1:5. Less water gives a glossier finish.

Can I use CarPro Perl on leather?

Yes. CarPro says Perl is safe on modern leather surfaces, diluted 1:5 like other interior trim. Test on a hidden area first.

Is Perl a tyre dressing or a trim dressing?

Both. Perl dresses tyres, plastics, rubber, vinyl and leather, and the dilution moves the finish from matte to semi-gloss.

How do I apply CarPro Perl?

Clean the surface, dilute Perl with water, spray it on, then wipe off with a microfibre towel. Use a tyre applicator on tyres or a sponge applicator on rubber.

Is Perl water resistant?

Yes. CarPro uses a waterborne acrylic-resin system with UV inhibitors, which gives more water repellency than a conventional dressing.

Is Perl water-based?

Yes. CarPro describes Perl as a waterborne silicone-oxide dressing with an advanced waterborne acrylic-resin system.

HQ Suggests Tips & Insights

  1. Clean and dry the surface first so the dressing goes on evenly.
  2. Mix only what you need in a labelled sprayer bottle.
  3. Wipe off any excess with a clean microfibre towel for an even finish.
  4. Use a tyre applicator on tyres and a sponge applicator on rubber trim.
  5. Start with a weaker mix and build up.
  6. Use the 1:5 mix on the dashboard.
  7. Let dressed tyres dry before driving.

The Brand

CarPro

CarPro is the car care brand behind CQUARTZ, one of the ceramic coatings that brought nano-protection from professional detailing studios to everyday enthusiasts. Founded in 2009 by car enthusiasts, CarPro develops and makes its products in its own laboratory and factory, and it has grown from a single coating into a complete system for paint, glass, wheels, tyres, plastics, leather and fabric.

The range is built to work together. The shampoos and snow foams clean a coated car without leaving gloss enhancers or silicones that would mask the coating, and the compounds and polishes are body shop safe, with no fillers to hide defects. The same products suit a first-time coating at home and the upkeep of a professional CQUARTZ installation.

At The Drivers HQ we stock the CarPro products our customers use most, from Reset shampoo and IronX fallout remover to the CQ UK 3.0 coating, with much of the range on the shelf at our Ilkeston shop.

The CarPro range: prepare, protect, maintain

CarPro organises its products around the order you work on a car, which makes it easy to build a kit that suits your car and the time you have.

Prepare. Clean and decontaminate first. Lift is a concentrated pre-wash snow foam, IronX dissolves iron fallout with an acid-free, pH-balanced formula and turns purple-red as it works, and TRIX removes iron and tar in one go. For paint correction, ClearCut takes out scratches as deep as P1000, Fixer cuts and finishes in a single step, and Reflect refines the finish before a coating. Eraser then removes polishing oils so the coating can bond.

Protect. CQ UK 3.0 is CarPro's consumer ceramic coating: 70% SiO2, applied from 3 to 40°C and rated for 18 to 24 months. There are dedicated coatings for film and plastic trim (CQUARTZ Skin), glass (GForce, built on CarPro's DQUARTZ nano-diamond technology) and leather (CQuartz Leather 2.0), plus quicker options such as HydrO2, a spray-on, rinse-off silica sealant rated for up to 6 months.

Maintain. Reset is the pH-neutral shampoo made for coated cars and dilutes 1:500. Hydro Foam washes and leaves a silica layer in one step, ECH2O is a waterless wash and quick detailer, and MFX restores the absorbency of your microfibre towels.

Shop CarPro by type: ceramic coatings, snow foam, iron and fallout removers, compounds and polishes, paint sealants and glass coatings.

Where to start with CarPro

New to CarPro? Start with the products that make the biggest difference to a normal wash: Reset, Lift and a pair of Dilute bottles, which have printed ratios from 1:1 to 1:30 so every concentrate is mixed correctly. WheelX is the CarPro product our customers buy most often: a ready-to-use wheel cleaner that is safe on coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Ready to protect your paint? Work in this order:

  • Wash with Lift and Reset, then remove iron fallout with IronX.
  • Polish if the paint needs it, from ClearCut for deeper marks to Reflect for a final finish.
  • Wipe each panel with Eraser and apply CQ UK 3.0 one panel at a time.
  • Keep the coating at its best with Reset and a top-up of HydrO2 or Hydro Foam every few months.

For tyres and trim, DarkSide and Perl are the favourites: Perl dilutes up to 5:1, from a rich finish on tyres to a satin look on plastics, and ReTyre cleans tyres and rubber before you dress them.
