Full Description

CarPro WheelX is a powerful, fast-acting wheel cleaner that breaks down ferrous particles, brake dust, road grime, dirt and grease in one step. Its reactive blend cleans wheels, calipers, wheel wells and undercarriages safely yet thoroughly, for regular washes or before a coating.

WheelX is safe on OEM, CarPro coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels, and can also remove old sealants from wheels, calipers and wheel wells. It is ready to use and slightly acidic, pH 5.7 according to CarPro US, and CarPro says it can be used on carbon-ceramic brakes. Sizes: 500ml, 1L and 4L.

WheelX does the work of an iron remover and a general wheel cleaner in one step. CarPro still calls IronX the more powerful dedicated deironiser, but says WheelX packs enough punch for most washes, and unlike IronX it is not for paintwork.

Because it is acidic rather than alkaline, CarPro says it is more forgiving than an alkaline cleaner such as MultiX, with much less potential for corrosion and safer for coatings.

CarPro US gives WheelX a pH of 5.7, about the pH of clean rainwater, against 7.0 for IronX.

How To Use

Clean the wheels

  1. Work out of direct sun on cool wheels.
  2. Spray WheelX generously on the wheel, inside the barrel, and on the calipers and wheel wells.
  3. Leave it to react for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not let it dry.

Agitate and rinse

  1. For the best result, go over the wheel with a light agitation, using a wheel brush or the CarPro Wheel Mitt.
  2. Rinse thoroughly within 5 minutes, letting the water pressure carry the dirt away.
  3. Move to the next wheel and repeat.

Top Tip: Do not dilute WheelX. It is made ready to use, and CarPro US says diluting it reduces its strength.

How does WheelX compare to IronX?

CarPro says IronX is the more powerful dedicated deironiser, but WheelX still removes iron well enough for most washes and also dissolves dirt, grime and grease. IronX can be used on paint, WheelX should not.

Is WheelX safe on ceramic coated wheels?

Yes. CarPro says it is safe on CarPro coatings, as well as OEM, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Can I use WheelX on tyres?

The CarPro range: prepare, protect, maintain

CarPro organises its products around the order you work on a car, which makes it easy to build a kit that suits your car and the time you have.

Prepare. Clean and decontaminate first. Lift is a concentrated pre-wash snow foam, IronX dissolves iron fallout with an acid-free, pH-balanced formula and turns purple-red as it works, and TRIX removes iron and tar in one go. For paint correction, ClearCut takes out scratches as deep as P1000, Fixer cuts and finishes in a single step, and Reflect refines the finish before a coating. Eraser then removes polishing oils so the coating can bond.

Protect. CQ UK 3.0 is CarPro's consumer ceramic coating: 70% SiO2, applied from 3 to 40°C and rated for 18 to 24 months. There are dedicated coatings for film and plastic trim (CQUARTZ Skin), glass (GForce, built on CarPro's DQUARTZ nano-diamond technology) and leather (CQuartz Leather 2.0), plus quicker options such as HydrO2, a spray-on, rinse-off silica sealant rated for up to 6 months.

Maintain. Reset is the pH-neutral shampoo made for coated cars and dilutes 1:500. Hydro Foam washes and leaves a silica layer in one step, ECH2O is a waterless wash and quick detailer, and MFX restores the absorbency of your microfibre towels.

Where to start with CarPro

New to CarPro? Start with the products that make the biggest difference to a normal wash: Reset, Lift and a pair of Dilute bottles, which have printed ratios from 1:1 to 1:30 so every concentrate is mixed correctly. WheelX is the CarPro product our customers buy most often: a ready-to-use wheel cleaner that is safe on coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Ready to protect your paint? Work in this order:

  • Wash with Lift and Reset, then remove iron fallout with IronX.
  • Polish if the paint needs it, from ClearCut for deeper marks to Reflect for a final finish.
  • Wipe each panel with Eraser and apply CQ UK 3.0 one panel at a time.
  • Keep the coating at its best with Reset and a top-up of HydrO2 or Hydro Foam every few months.

For tyres and trim, DarkSide and Perl are the favourites: Perl dilutes up to 5:1, from a rich finish on tyres to a satin look on plastics, and ReTyre cleans tyres and rubber before you dress them.
