Tyre Brushes

A tyre brush is a stiff brush for scrubbing the sidewall. Worked with a tyre cleaner, it lifts the old dressing, road film and browning that a wash mitt slides straight over. Choose from the TDHQ Tire Brush in blue, black or white, or brushes from Maxshine, Mothers, Chemical Guys, ChemicalWorkz, Sam's Detailing and SGCB.

How to choose

  • Grip: a handled brush such as the Maxshine Soft Grip keeps your knuckles away from the wheel and the ground while you lean on it.
  • Cleaner: if you use a strong tyre cleaner, the Chemical Guys Stiffy Brush is sold as chemical resistant.
  • Colour: the TDHQ brush comes in three colours, so a tyre-only brush is easy to tell apart from the ones you use elsewhere.

Good to know

  • Scrub and rinse until the foam comes off white instead of brown: brown foam means old dressing is still coming out. Pair the brush with one of our Tyre Cleaners.
  • Let the tyre dry before dressing it. Keep this brush for tyres only: bristles stiff enough for rubber will scratch paint and wheel faces.

What is the difference between a wheel brush and a tyre brush?

A tyre brush has stiff bristles for scrubbing old dressing and browning out of the rubber. Wheel brushes are soft enough for painted, polished and coated wheels, so keep the two apart: tyre bristles would scratch a wheel face.
