Washing, Drying & Microfibres

This is the kit for washing, drying and wiping down the car, the stages where most swirls and fine scratches are put in. It runs from Grit Guard buckets, CarPro and Mammoth wash mitts and Maxshine drying towels to FibreKing cloths, BLO and Vertool car dryers, and microfibre detergent.

How to choose

• Washing: two buckets with guards from Buckets & Grit Guards, a paint mitt or pad from Wash Mitts & Pads, and a separate mitt from Wheel Wash Mitts so brake dust stays off the bodywork.
• Drying: a twisted loop or waffle weave towel from Drying Towels, or a blower from Car Dryers & Blowers to clear mirrors, badges and grilles without touching them.
• Wiping and buffing: Microfibre Cloths for general jobs, soft Buffing & Finishing Towels for wax, polish and coating residue, and Glass & Interior Cloths for windows.
• Aftercare: Microfibre Washes are detergents made for microfibre that rinse out clean, so towels keep absorbing.

Good to know

Keep paint, wheel and glass microfibres apart, wash them without fabric softener, and rewash anything dropped on the floor before it touches paint.

Can you wash your car too often?

Regular washing is fine when the method is safe: swirls come from grit dragged across the paint while washing and drying, not from the washing itself. Rinse the mitt in a guarded bucket, keep separate kit for the wheels and dry with a soft towel or a blower.
