Danish Cleaning Tools Since 1898

Danish Cleaning Tools Since 1898

Vikan says it was founded in 1898 by A. P. Pedersen, who was raised just a few kilometres from the company's present headquarters in Denmark. He grew up in a farming family and, in Vikan's words, had an instinctive awareness about the importance and value of hygiene. Over the following decades the company grew, went international and moved into new business areas, although hygienic cleaning in the food and beverage industry has remained its core focus. The business was once known as Skive Børstefabrik, and its headquarters are in Skive.

The company sums up its approach in one line: if it does not work, it is not Vikan. It says customer views are built into its product development, followed by testing, and testing, and testing again, with constant feedback loops with customers. Vikan credits itself with inventing colour coding for the hygienic segregation of cleaning tools, and its website states that it is ISO 9001:2015 accredited.

Vikan says its tools are available in more than 90 countries, supported by some 310 employees and a large distributor network, and it has a UK sales office, Vikan UK Ltd, in Swindon, Wiltshire. The company is majority owned by the Vissing Foundation, a charitable organisation that supports medical research, sustainable energy research, and marginalised children and young people.

About Vikan

Vikan is a Danish maker of professional cleaning tools, founded in 1898 by A. P. Pedersen and headquartered in Skive, Denmark. The company says its tools are designed for the food and beverage industry and other hygiene-sensitive environments, and that they are available in more than 90 countries. Alongside its hygiene ranges, Vikan makes a Transport range of more than 70 professional cleaning tools designed to clean the interior and exterior of any type of vehicle, from brushes and brooms to squeegees, buckets and handles.

The Drivers HQ stocks four Vikan detailing brushes. The Vikan Vehicle Brush Long Handle, 420mm Soft Black is a long-handled brush for wheel arches and other hard-to-reach areas, while the Vikan Interior Black Brush Soft is a brush for dusting the cabin. The Vikan Upholstery Nail Brush 70 x 115mm is a compact hand brush for fabric seats and carpets, and the Vikan Round Scrubbing Brush Hard 110mm is a round hand scrub with hard bristles for tougher cleaning jobs.

Vikan says its vehicle brushes are designed for the professional cleaning of vehicle interiors, exteriors and service facilities, so they suit valeters and detailers as well as enthusiasts who want durable tools. In a detailing routine, the long-handled soft brush reaches into wheel arches and around the chassis, the interior brush lifts dust from vents, switches and dashboards, and the nail brush agitates upholstery and carpet cleaners. The hard round scrub is suited to robust surfaces such as rubber mats and tyres, not paintwork.

Order Vikan brushes from The Drivers HQ with tracked UK-wide delivery, or pick them up from our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. They sit alongside the rest of our detailing brushes and car care products, so you can put together a practical set of tools for the wheels, bodywork and cabin, and add the cleaners that go with them, in a single order.

Transport Range Brushes for Vehicle Care

Transport Range Brushes for Vehicle Care

Vikan's Transport range features more than 70 professional cleaning tools for the interior and exterior of any type of vehicle, and the company lists tour buses and coaches, commercial trucks, train carriages and aircraft among its applications. Vikan says it partners with transport industry professionals to develop and refine the range, and that their input has led to innovations such as rubber edges to prevent paint scratches and telescopic handles for longer reach on large vehicles.

Vikan describes its long-handled Vehicle Brush as a way to easily clean vehicle chassis, wheel arches, engine compartments and storage tanks. Its soft, split bristles are designed to help prevent surface damage while holding more water and cleaning chemicals, and Vikan lists Denmark as its country of origin. The Interior Brush is made from natural hair and is intended to remove dust from dashboards, instrument panels, switch housings and air ventilation outlets.

For fabric and carpets, Vikan's Nail Brush is made to clean fingernails, upholstery or carpets, with thicker hard bristles for scrubbing and dislodging stubborn soils. The Round Hand Scrub has an ergonomic design that, according to Vikan, lets you apply more pressure to the brush during use. Vikan also says its Vehicle Brush, Interior Brush and Nail Brush contain recycled materials wherever possible to reduce environmental impact.
