Full Description

CarPro DarkSide is a ready-to-use, highly concentrated tyre and rubber sealant. Its 60% polydimethylsiloxane formula goes on quickly with a tyre or microfibre applicator and leaves a satin black shine, with each application lasting up to 3 months.

DarkSide has CarPro's self-cleaning, hydrophobic properties, plus UV and chemical resistance to keep tyres looking new for longer. It is low VOC and does not sling when applied as directed. Use it on tyres and rubber trim. Sizes: 500ml, 1L and 4L.

DarkSide is the step up from a diluted dressing like Perl when you want the tyres to stay dark through the wet. CarPro US calls it much more durable on tyres, especially in wet conditions, while Perl stays the more versatile, dilutable choice for trim and interiors.

The finish is satin rather than a wet-look gloss. CarPro US notes the gloss fades over time while the tyre stays cleaner and keeps repelling water.

CarPro credits its 60% polydimethylsiloxane formula for the quick, easy application, and CarPro US says its UV protection guards the rubber against degeneration.

How To Use

Tyres

  1. Clean the tyres thoroughly, ideally with CarPro ReTyre and a tyre brush.
  2. Let the tyres dry completely.
  3. Shake, then squirt DarkSide 2 to 3 times onto a tyre applicator or a CarPro microfibre applicator.
  4. Spread it evenly over the tyre wall and wipe off any excess.
  5. Keep it away from water and let it dry for 1 to 2 hours.

Rubber trim

  1. Clean with CarPro MultiX or ReTyre and let it dry fully.
  2. Apply with a microfibre or foam applicator, or a foam swab in tight spots.
  3. Spread evenly and wipe off any excess with a microfibre towel.
  4. Let it dry for 1 to 2 hours before driving.

Top Tip: Start with a clean, completely dry tyre. CarPro recommends cleaning it with ReTyre first.

The CarPro range: prepare, protect, maintain

CarPro organises its products around the order you work on a car, which makes it easy to build a kit that suits your car and the time you have.

Prepare. Clean and decontaminate first. Lift is a concentrated pre-wash snow foam, IronX dissolves iron fallout with an acid-free, pH-balanced formula and turns purple-red as it works, and TRIX removes iron and tar in one go. For paint correction, ClearCut takes out scratches as deep as P1000, Fixer cuts and finishes in a single step, and Reflect refines the finish before a coating. Eraser then removes polishing oils so the coating can bond.

Protect. CQ UK 3.0 is CarPro's consumer ceramic coating: 70% SiO2, applied from 3 to 40°C and rated for 18 to 24 months. There are dedicated coatings for film and plastic trim (CQUARTZ Skin), glass (GForce, built on CarPro's DQUARTZ nano-diamond technology) and leather (CQuartz Leather 2.0), plus quicker options such as HydrO2, a spray-on, rinse-off silica sealant rated for up to 6 months.

Maintain. Reset is the pH-neutral shampoo made for coated cars and dilutes 1:500. Hydro Foam washes and leaves a silica layer in one step, ECH2O is a waterless wash and quick detailer, and MFX restores the absorbency of your microfibre towels.

Where to start with CarPro

New to CarPro? Start with the products that make the biggest difference to a normal wash: Reset, Lift and a pair of Dilute bottles, which have printed ratios from 1:1 to 1:30 so every concentrate is mixed correctly. WheelX is the CarPro product our customers buy most often: a ready-to-use wheel cleaner that is safe on coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Ready to protect your paint? Work in this order:

  • Wash with Lift and Reset, then remove iron fallout with IronX.
  • Polish if the paint needs it, from ClearCut for deeper marks to Reflect for a final finish.
  • Wipe each panel with Eraser and apply CQ UK 3.0 one panel at a time.
  • Keep the coating at its best with Reset and a top-up of HydrO2 or Hydro Foam every few months.

For tyres and trim, DarkSide and Perl are the favourites: Perl dilutes up to 5:1, from a rich finish on tyres to a satin look on plastics, and ReTyre cleans tyres and rubber before you dress them.
