Koch-Chemie

Koch-Chemie began in Germany in 1968 when trained carpenter Hans Koch started developing his own polishing compounds after becoming dissatisfied with the vehicle care products available at the time. His interest in surface finishing became the foundation of the company, with the first Koch-Chemie products moving into serial production during the 1970s. The business has remained based in Unna, Germany since 1971 and has expanded from polishing into vehicle cleaning, preparation, car wash chemistry, workshop products and industrial cleaning.

That history still shows clearly in Koch-Chemie's paint correction range. Heavy Cut, Fine Cut and Micro Cut compounds are designed as defined stages of correction and refinement, supported by corresponding pads and preparation products rather than being treated as isolated bottles of polish.

A Detailing Range Built as a System

Koch-Chemie approaches vehicle care as a complete chemical and process system. Its detailing catalogue covers pre-cleaners, wheel cleaners, foams, shampoos, fallout and tar removal, polishing compounds, sealants, interior cleaners, glass products and specialist treatments. Familiar products including Green Star, Pol Star, Heavy Cut H9.02, Fine Cut F6.01 and Micro Cut M3.02 each occupy a specific position within that process.

The company's ProductSystem takes this further by dividing its chemistry into ten application groups with individual colour codes. Product abbreviations and technical information are incorporated into the labelling so that users can identify what a product is designed to do and where it belongs within the wider system. This structured approach is one of the most identifiable characteristics of Koch-Chemie.

Koch-Chemie operates its own research and development department at its site in Unna, Germany. Formulations are tested for measurable properties including durability, gloss and hydrophobic behaviour, with development also taking material compatibility, regional conditions and professional working processes into account. The company works directly with the automotive industry, car wash operators and industrial customers when developing and refining its chemistry.

Production is also carried out in Unna, where Koch-Chemie mixes its formulations, fills and labels containers and distributes finished products. Its production operation works within DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management and DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
