How a Holiday Find Became Linntec

How a Holiday Find Became Linntec

Linntec's story starts with its founder, motoring enthusiast Ron Linn. Originally from Dundee in Scotland, he moved to Yorkshire with his young family and worked for a firm in the engineering industry. While on holiday in the USA he spotted some new detailing products, trialled a few of them on his own car back at home and was impressed with the results.

His first import order of a few cases was placed in the same week, and he offered the products to a local car accessory shop for resale, which is how Linntec was born. Starting with one man and one brand, the team grew over the next 20 years as new brands were welcomed.

Linntec says it remains a family-owned independent business. It now imports products from countries worldwide, receives weekly container shipments and has supplied retailers across the UK and Europe from its warehouse in Yorkshire for over 20 years. Ron's love for cars and racing has been passed down to a further two generations, with his grandchildren now taking part in kart racing.

About Linntec

Linntec is a UK-based, family-owned company that distributes car care and detailing brands to approved retailers and professional trade businesses. It was founded by motoring enthusiast Ron Linn in the early 2000s and supplies retailers across the UK and Europe from its warehouse in Yorkshire. It distributes brands such as Mothers, Lake Country, Menzerna and Grit Guard, its brands page also shows a Linntec brand, and its catalogue includes Snow Foam & Pre-Wash and Snow Foam Lances & Sprayers categories.

The Drivers HQ stocks four Linntec products. Three are snow foams in 5L containers, each labelled Linntec Professional Car Care: Blueberry Blast, Satsuma Orange and Sweet Apple. The fourth is the Linntec 6 in 1 Adjustable Spray Nozzle for stubby gun, which attaches to a stubby nose foam gun and lets you switch between spray patterns without swapping nozzles. Together they cover the pre-wash stage of a wash, from laying down foam to rinsing it away.

Snow foam is the first stage of a safe wash routine: it goes on before a wash mitt touches the paint, loosening dirt and grime so more of it rinses away. Linntec's foams are made for foam lances and foam guns, so they suit anyone washing with a pressure washer, from weekend enthusiasts to detailers who wash cars regularly and get through a 5L container quickly. The 6 in 1 nozzle suits owners of a stubby foam gun who want one attachment for spot cleaning, rinsing and foaming.

Buy Linntec from The Drivers HQ with tracked UK-wide delivery by Royal Mail, or visit our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. A 5L container of snow foam is a heavy item to carry home, so ordering it alongside your shampoo, wash mitts and drying towels keeps the whole wash kit in one basket, and our team can help you choose a foam or a nozzle before you buy.

Snow Foams and Stubby Gun Spray Control

Snow Foams and Stubby Gun Spray Control

The Satsuma Orange and Blueberry Blast snow foams are described as pH neutral pre-rinse formulas for use with foam lances and foam guns. They leave a white blanket of foam over the vehicle that helps remove dirt and grime from the paint before you shampoo, and because they are pH neutral they are safe on all paint and will not strip existing layers of wax or polish.

For Sweet Apple, the directions are to use 100ml of snow foam with every 500ml of water in a snow foam lance, adjusting the feed rate to make the foam thicker or thinner. Spray it over the area to be cleaned, leave it to dwell for 5 minutes and rinse it off before moving on to the contact wash.

The 6 in 1 Adjustable Spray Nozzle attaches to the Stubby Nose Foam Gun with a quick connection design and gives six different spray modes, including settings marked 0, 15, 25 and 40 and a soap setting. Instead of swapping nozzles, you dial in the right pattern for the job, whether that is spot cleaning, rinsing or snow foaming.
