CarPro CQUARTZ Skin is a dedicated coating for paint protection film, vinyl film, clear bra and plastic trim. This is the CarPro product to choose when the surface is film or wrap rather than bare gloss paint. PPF and vinyl have different behaviour to painted clear coat, so using a coating designed specifically for films matters. CQUARTZ Skin is built with UVA and UVB resistant particles to help protect wrapped and plastic surfaces from UV damage, while also adding water and dirt repellency and resistance to most chemicals, salts and environmental damage. It is suitable for gloss and matt films, with CarPro US also listing matte, satin and gloss finishes. Preparation still matters. The film must be clean, oil-free and contaminant-free before application, and high spots must be levelled before the coating cures.

Use on clean, oil-free and contaminant-free PPF, vinyl film and compatible plastic trim. Do not treat this as a general paint coating for bare gloss paintwork. Take extra care on matte and satin surfaces because cured coating cannot be polished off without changing the finish. Do not apply to dirty film, oily surfaces, glass, rubber, fabric, leather, tyre tread or unknown sensitive materials unless CarPro confirms suitability.

Surface preparation

  1. Wash the vehicle or film thoroughly.
  2. Remove dirt and contamination from the surface.
  3. Make sure the film is fully clean.
  4. Make sure the surface is oil-free.
  5. Make sure the surface is dry before coating.
  6. Use suitable lighting before starting.
  7. Take extra care on matte and satin film.
  8. Do not apply if you cannot clearly see high spots.

Application

  1. Apply CQUARTZ Skin to the supplied applicator.
  2. Work on a controlled section at a time.
  3. Spread the coating in an even criss-cross layer.
  4. Work the coating flat across the surface.
  5. Avoid leaving thick edges or wet high spots.
  6. Let the coating flash for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Wipe off using a suitable microfibre towel.
  8. Inspect the area from multiple angles.

Second layer

  1. Apply a second layer only if required.
  2. For best performance, CarPro US recommends 2 layers.
  3. Apply the second layer after 4 hours.
  4. If using IR curing where applicable, the second layer can be applied immediately.
  5. Keep the coating layer thin and even.
  6. Level and wipe off carefully.
  7. Inspect again under good lighting.

After application

  1. Keep the vehicle out of the elements for 24 hours.
  2. Do not subject the surface to chemicals for at least 3 to 5 days.
  3. Do not wash with detergents during the early cure period.
  4. Keep coated film clean during curing.
  5. Remove water marks carefully if they appear early.
  6. Do not polish matte or satin film to remove cured coating.
  7. Maintain with suitable pH-balanced wash products.

Matte and satin film caution

  1. Do not apply to matte or satin film unless you can control coating application properly.
  2. Use proper lighting to identify high spots.
  3. Remove high spots before the coating cures.
  4. Do not use abrasive polish to remove cured coating from matte or satin film.
  5. Polishing matte or satin film can create gloss patches.
  6. Use a professional installer if unsure.

Top Tip: On matte and satin PPF or vinyl, lighting and careful levelling are critical. High spots must be removed during application because polishing them later can change the finish.
