Full Description

CarPro SiC Sanding Discs are foam-backed silicon carbide discs for wet or dry sanding of automotive paint. This pack holds 10 discs of 5 inch P1500, the coarsest of CarPro's three grits, for the defect removal stage of paint refinement.

CarPro says silicon carbide corrects the surface efficiently while letting you refine the sanded area back to a flawless finish, unlike aluminium oxide papers that remove more material and leave deeper grooves. Anti-clog technology makes each disc last longer, and the built-in interface padding keeps contact even across OEM texture. Use them on a DA machine or by hand.

CarPro says newer OEM paints are increasingly finicky to work with, so it designed these discs to remove defects while keeping an OEM appearance. Silicon carbide corrects efficiently, and the sanded area refines back to a flawless finish.

How To Use

Sand a defect

  1. Clean the area and mark out the defect.
  2. Fit the disc to a 5 inch DA backing plate or a sanding block.
  3. For wet sanding, spray the disc and the panel with a lubricant such as CarPro Claylube.
  4. Sand with light, even pressure, checking the area often.
  5. Refine with P2000 and P3000, then polish to restore the gloss.

Top Tip: Use the finest grit that removes the defect, and drop to P1500 only when a finer disc is too slow.
