HONDA in white serif capitals, a cartoon piston character with little legs, two Japanese kanji for Osaka and JDM in heavy italic letters, with OSAKA KANJO PERFORMANCE in small capitals beneath and a rising sun burst at the right hand end. How To Use

Applying it

  1. Clean the top of the windscreen with glass cleaner and let it dry fully.
  2. Apply in dry weather at a mild temperature, never on a cold or wet screen.
  3. Line the strip up centrally before peeling any backing.
  4. Follow the fitting instructions supplied with it.
  5. Smooth it down from the middle outwards with a card wrapped in a cloth.
  6. Leave it a day before washing the car.

Care

  1. Wash over it gently by hand.
  2. Keep pressure washer jets away from the edges.
  3. Watch the screen wash: alcohol in washer fluid can damage vinyl over time.
  4. Pat it dry with a clean microfibre towel.

Top Tip: Warm, dry weather and a spotless surface give the adhesive the best chance to bond properly.

The Strictly Static range

Sunstrips. Each sunstrip is about 140 x 28cm, which leaves room to trim either side to fit your screen. Strictly Static says its vinyls are long lasting, waterproof, UV protected so they will not fade, and scratch resistant, and each comes with step-by-step fitting instructions. Designs include JDM Waves, Tropical Flowers and Tropical.

Stickers and vinyls. The slap stickers and decals are eco-solvent printed, waterproof, UV protected and scratch resistant, from meme stickers like Man Don't Stance to the 10 x 5cm dash stickers such as Check Engine and May Suddenly Bounce. The 300mm script Window Vinyl and Inverted Window Vinyl come in a choice of colours, glitters and oil slick.

Air fresheners and lanyards. The hanging air fresheners carry car scene designs and scents, such as BBS Blueberry and JDM Waves Spring Water. The lanyards are 25mm wide and 400mm long, printed on both sides, with a chrome clasp for your keys.

Clothing and bags. The tees, such as the Big Waves JDM Tee, are printed direct to garment on 100% ring-spun cotton, and the hoodies include the Born From Death Hoodie and the Chenille Signature Hoodie. The Flexi Fit caps are 100% cotton five-panel camper caps with an embroidered Strictly Static patch, in blackout, olive, camouflage and red, and the 20 litre Original Belt Bum Bag comes in black, grey and red.

Fitting a sunstrip and stickers

Vinyl sticks best to clean glass and paint in dry, mild weather:

  • Clean first. Wash the glass or panel and let it dry fully; any wax or dirt left under the vinyl stops the adhesive gripping.
  • Pick a dry day. Strictly Static warns not to fit vinyls in cold or wet weather, which spoils the adhesive.
  • Smooth from the middle out. Lay the sunstrip or sticker in place, then smooth it from the centre to the edges to push out any air. Trim a sunstrip to the edge of the screen if it needs it.
  • Look after the edges. Keep pressure washer jets and polishers away from the edges so they do not lift.

Washer fluid with alcohol in it can damage a windscreen sunstrip over time, so choose a screen wash that is kind to vinyl. Wash by hand around stickers rather than blasting them with the pressure washer.
