Costco's Own Private Label Brand

Costco's Own Private Label Brand

Kirkland Signature belongs to Costco Wholesale Corporation, which Wikipedia describes as an American multinational corporation that operates a chain of membership-only big-box warehouse club retail stores. Costco itself calls Kirkland Signature its exclusive private label brand, and sums it up in a single line: Kirkland Signature means quality and value.

The name has a local story behind it. Costco's worldwide headquarters are in Issaquah, Washington, an eastern suburb of Seattle, but the Kirkland Signature house label is named after the company's former location in Kirkland, another eastern Seattle suburb. Costco moved its headquarters from Kirkland to Issaquah in 1996, and its UK site says Kirkland Signature has been loved by Costco members since 1995.

Costco presents the label as one of the main reasons to become a member, and invites shoppers to compare any Kirkland Signature product with its brand name counterpart. The range covers everything from grocery and household essentials to clothing and luggage, and it even extends to Kirkland Signature Fuel.

About Kirkland Signature

Kirkland Signature is Costco's own private label brand, found on a wide range of products sold through the membership warehouse club. Costco describes Kirkland Signature products as more than just a house brand and says the label has been loved by its members since 1995, with products running from grocery and household essentials to clothing and luggage. According to Wikipedia, the name comes from Kirkland, an eastern suburb of Seattle where Costco was formerly based, before the company moved its headquarters to Issaquah in 1996.

The Drivers HQ stocks the Kirkland Ultra Plush Microfibre, a microfibre towel in our Buffing & Finishing Towels range. Costco describes its Kirkland Signature Ultra Plush Microfibre Towels as cloths that lift and trap dirt and moisture to leave a clean, dry and polished surface, and says they are safe to use on all surfaces around the home and on cars, motorcycles, aircraft and boats. It lists the towels at 40.6 x 40.6 cm, made from 80% polyester and 20% polyamide, for use wet or dry.

A plush microfibre towel is a useful all rounder for anyone who looks after their own car. Used dry, it suits buffing off wax, sealant or quick detailer residue and giving paintwork, glass and trim a final wipe; used slightly damp, it can lift light dust and marks between washes. Costco says the towels clean without chemicals and can be washed and reused hundreds of times. Keeping a few set aside for finishing work, apart from the towels you use on wheels or door shuts, helps keep them clean and soft enough for paint.

Buy Kirkland Signature microfibre from The Drivers HQ with tracked UK-wide delivery by Royal Mail, or call in at our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. The Kirkland Ultra Plush Microfibre can go in the same order as your waxes, sealants, quick detailers and other detailing and car care essentials, so your finishing kit arrives together or is ready to pick up in one visit.

Ultra Plush Microfibre for Car and Home

Costco's description of the Kirkland Signature Ultra Plush Microfibre Towels explains how they work: microfibre attracts dust and other contaminants like a magnet and traps them within its very fine filaments. Used dry, Costco says, the towels work without scratching, linting or streaking, and used wet they absorb 8 times their own weight in water.

Costco also says the towels clean without the use of chemicals and need little to no water, which it says reduces waste, and that they can be washed and reused hundreds of times. It lists them as safe to use on all surfaces around the home and on cars, motorcycles, aircraft and boats.

At The Drivers HQ, the Kirkland Ultra Plush Microfibre sits in our Buffing & Finishing Towels range. That makes it a practical choice for the final stage of a detail, whether you are buffing off a wax or sealant, wiping down the glass or giving the car a quick once over before a drive.
