Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola goes back to 1886. According to The Coca-Cola Company, Dr John Pemberton brought his perfected syrup to Jacobs' Pharmacy in downtown Atlanta on 8 May that year, and the first glass of Coca-Cola was poured there. From that one drink, the company says, it has grown into a total beverage company whose sparkling soft drinks include Fanta and Sprite. The Coca-Cola range at The Drivers HQ is not a drinks range, though: it is a collection of officially licensed car air fresheners made by Airpure, a family company based in Bury, Lancashire.

The Drivers HQ stocks 11 designs, all flat hanging air fresheners shaped like a can or a bottle. From Coca-Cola itself there are the Original Can, the Original Bottle and the Cherry, Vanilla and Zero cans, plus a Diet Coke can. The wider family is covered by Fanta Grape, Fanta Lemon, Fanta Orange and Fanta Strawberry, along with a Sprite can. Each card is labelled as scented after the drink on the front, from sweet cherry and cola to zesty lemon and lime, so the design and the fragrance go together.

These air fresheners suit drivers who want a little personality in the cabin as well as a pleasant smell. A hanging card needs no power and no fitting: simply hang it where it can move freely and does not block your view of the road. The contour bottle design suits a retro or classic interior, while the bright Fanta and Sprite cans bring colour to an everyday car, a van or a campervan. They also make an easy gift or stocking filler for anyone who enjoys the drinks, and swapping designs through the year gives the car a change of scent.

Buy Coca-Cola air fresheners from The Drivers HQ with UK-wide delivery, or call in at our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. You can pick a single favourite, mix Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite designs in one order, or add them to a basket of car care and detailing essentials, so the cabin smells as good as the paintwork looks once the wash is done.

A Drink That Began in 1886

A Drink That Began in 1886

The Coca-Cola Company traces its story to a soda fountain in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, in 1886. On 8 May that year Dr John Pemberton brought his perfected syrup to Jacobs' Pharmacy, where the first glass of Coca-Cola was poured, and the company says it served about nine drinks per day in its first year.

The famous bottle came later. The company describes the contour bottle as the result of a collaboration that began in 1915 and turned into one of the most famous shapes in the world, celebrated in art, music and advertising. That silhouette is the one printed on the Coca-Cola Original Bottle Air Freshener, while the other Coca-Cola designs use the familiar can.

Fanta and Sprite belong to the same family. The Coca-Cola Company calls Fanta its second oldest brand and says the Fanta known today emerged in Naples, Italy, in 1955 as an orange flavoured soft drink. It describes Sprite as a lemon-lime soft drink, and lemon and lime is the scent Airpure has chosen for the Sprite hanging air freshener.

Licensed Designs With Matching Scents

Licensed Designs With Matching Scents

Every card in the range carries the Airpure name. Airpure describes itself as a family company and makes its Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite car air fresheners as an official licensee, which it says means you can be confident you are buying genuine Coca-Cola products. It also lists the range as vegan friendly.

Each freshener is a 2D paper design printed as a can or bottle, with a fragrance to match. Airpure says the Cherry can has all of the smell of sweet cherry, pairs its red Original can design with a cola scent, and describes Diet Coke as lighter than the original, but not when it comes to fragrance power. The Zero can is described as bold and long-lasting.

The Fanta designs are fruity. Airpure calls the grape scent strong, sweet and fruity, the lemon a sweet citrus scent and the orange fruity and sweet, while the strawberry is described as fruity, rich in scent and super sweet. Sprite adds zesty lemon and lime. With 11 designs to choose from, it is easy to find a favourite or keep a spare in the glovebox for when you fancy a change.
