The Drivers HQ

Expert Notes

Glass is much harder than paint, so a glass polish needs a different abrasive and more patience. Sonax uses cerium oxide in a chemical-mechanical polish, worked with a moistened felt pad at about 600 to 1000 rpm and about 5 kg of pressure, and allows at least 30 minutes for a windscreen.

It removes slight scratches, blinding and etching, and it also strips old, defective window coatings. Keep the pad wet and moving, because heat is the risk, and remember that glass with stone chips cannot be polished.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Windscreens
  • Side windows
  • Real glass
  • Glass with old coatings

Caution: For real glass only. Do not use it on hot glass, do not overheat one area, and do not polish glass with stone chips.
