Full Description

The Maxshine M1000 is a 5 inch (125mm) rotary polisher with a 1000W motor, sized for the smaller, harder-to-polish areas such as mirrors, bumpers and headlights. Its 6 speed dial lets you cut quickly at the top end or finish gently at the bottom.

Bespoke auto shut-off carbon brushes stop the motor before it can overheat, and the internal parts are laid out to balance the weight while you polish, which reduces strain and fatigue. A non-slip, soft rubber-coated grip, a self-locking switch for continuous running and a 4 metre cable, reinforced at the base, complete it. Maxshine also makes rotary accessories that fit the M1000, including the MN01 Mini Polisher Kit and an Extension Shaft Kit for very tight areas.

Expert Notes

The Maxshine M1000 Rotary Polisher is made for heavy paint correction. Tape off edges, spread the compound at the lowest speed, then cut in small sections with the pad flat and always moving. Disconnect the power before changing pads and keep it out of reach of children. The Drivers HQ stocks a wider range of Maxshine car care products. Clean the pads during and after use and keep the vents free of dust.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Painted bodywork
  • Clear coats
  • Bonnets and roofs
  • Doors and wings
  • Bumpers
  • Single-stage paint

Caution: A rotary builds heat fast: keep the pad moving and flat, stay off edges and body lines, wear eye protection, and switch it off and disconnect the power before changing pads. Keep it out of reach of children.

What does it suit?

Maxshine says it suits smaller, hard-to-polish areas such as mirrors, bumpers and headlights.

Which pads fit it?

Pads sized for its backing plate, as the maker lists.

Yes, polish a clean, decontaminated and dry car so grit is never ground into the paint.

The Brand

Maxshine

Maxshine is a detailing tools brand made by Anhui Maxshine Auto Products Co., Ltd, based in Wuhu, Anhui province, China, and working in car care since 2006. It is best known for long-throw dual action polishers, and around them it makes the tools a detail depends on: microfibre towels and wash pads, brushes, clay, applicators, bucket systems, bags and creepers. Maxshine products are sold in more than 50 countries and regions, and the company works in joint ventures with suppliers in China on quality control and new products.

At The Drivers HQ we stock a wide Maxshine range online with UK delivery and in our Ilkeston shop. Our customers' favourites are the Clay Bar Heavy Grade, the Duo Twisted Colourful Towel, the HD Chemical Resistant Bottles, the Interior Scrubbing Sponge and the Microfibre Flat Wheel Brush.

Maxshine tools by job

Wash. The Microfibre Wash Pad does the contact wash. The Bucket Buddy is a caddy that hangs on the edge of any bucket, with slots for 14mm and 18mm brush handles and drainage holes in the base; it comes in red, black and clear, so the wheel bucket is easy to tell apart. The Rolling Bucket Dolly moves the bucket, cleaners and brushes round the car on swivel wheels. The Ezy Wheel Hose Rollers sit against the tyres so the hose does not snag on the wheels, the Short Wand pressure washer gun is a compact stubby gun, and the 1.5L Hand Pump Foam Sprayer foams without a pressure washer.

Wheels and tyres. The Microfibre Flat Wheel Brush in large and small has a metal-free build and a replaceable microfibre cover for brake dust between spokes, alongside the angled microfibre and wool wheel brushes, the 3-piece wheel brush kit and the Finger Wheel Wash Mitts. The Ergonomic Tyre Cleaning Brush scrubs sidewalls, and the Hydro-Tech Tyre Gel Applicator puts the dressing on.

Decontamination. The Clay Bar Heavy Grade works by hand, the Microfibre Clay Mitt has a fine-grade rubber clay face on a microfibre base for regular decontamination, and the 5in DA Clay Pad clays by machine on a dual action polisher. Use each with plenty of clay lubricant.

Drying. The Duo Twisted Colourful Towel has twisted loop microfibre on both sides, and the 600GSM Single Twisted Loop Drying Towel has it on one side only, so it stays lighter as it soaks up water and dries itself faster between uses.

Interior. The Interior Scrubbing Sponge and its bristle-sided version work like a brush on plastics and seats, the Carpet Lint and Hair Removal Brush uses electrostatic rubber to lift hair from carpets, and the 2in and 5in drill carpet brushes and Soft Leather & Fabric Drill Brush Set clean by drill. For detail work there are the Horsehair Brush, the boar's hair and mixed bristle stubby brushes, the Ergonomic Interior Detailing Brush and the Detailing Swabs, which leave no residue behind as cotton buds can.

Applying coatings and dressings. The Ceramic Coating Applicators, Suede Coating Cloths and Microfibre Coating Applicator apply coatings evenly, and the UFO applicators, Foam Wax Applicators and Dressing Applicator With Cover handle wax and trim dressing.

Polishing. Maxshine's machines include the M312 dual action polisher, the 5in 1000W rotary polisher and, for small areas, the Mini Cordless Polisher V2 and Mini Polishing System Kit. If one is out of stock, choose Notify Me When Back in Stock on its page.

Organising the job. The HD Chemical Resistant Bottles come in grey, red and yellow so you can colour-code your products, the 1 Litre Measuring Cup is made from chemical-resistant polypropylene for accurate dilutions, and the Detailing Bag, Kneeling Pad and Rolling Creeper keep the kit and you comfortable. The Foam Pad Cleaning Brush cleans polishing pads and lifts them off the backing plate.

Clay bar, clay mitt or DA clay pad?

Washing removes loose dirt, but bonded contamination such as overspray, tree sap, road film and industrial fallout stays on the paint and leaves it rough to the touch. Clay lifts it off before you polish, wax or coat. Maxshine makes three ways to do it, and we stock all three.

  • Clay Bar Heavy Grade: the traditional hand method. Knead a piece flat, work it over a well-lubricated panel in straight lines and fold it to a clean face as it picks up dirt. Heavy grade suits a car that has not been clayed for a long time. Throw away a bar that you drop on the ground.
  • Microfibre Clay Mitt (fine grade): a polymerised rubber clay face bonded to a microfibre base. The fine grade is made for maintenance decontamination, so it suits regular use on well-kept or coated cars.
  • DA Clay Pad (5in): fits a dual action polisher to clay large panels quickly by machine. Keep the panel wet with lubricant and use a low speed.

Whichever you choose, follow with a polish if the paint needs correcting, or straight on to wax, sealant or a coating with Maxshine's coating applicators. For lubricant, see our clay lubricants.
