The Brand

Grid Icons

Grid Icons is an automotive art brand founded by Dan Chubb, a lifelong motorsport enthusiast. Every piece is digitally designed by Dan himself, and the brand says each artwork is individually illustrated with a focus on authenticity, character and nostalgia. Working under the line "Powered by the Past. Racing into the Future", Grid Icons turns rally cars, touring cars, Group 5 and Group C racers, JDM machines and Formula 1 cars into poster prints, framed prints and skate decks, and its home page says its work is designed and printed in the UK.

The Drivers HQ stocks Grid Icons posters and wall art. Poster prints include the Alfa Romeo 155 DTM, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2, the BMW E21 Jaegermeister Group 5 and the BMW E36 318i Touring Car, while the skate deck wall art covers the 1991 Williams FW14, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 rally car and the BMW E30 M3 DTM Group A in Jagermeister and Warsteiner colours. Other designs include the 190E Evo II in DTM and road car form, the 911 GT3 RS (992) and RWB 930 builds.

Grid Icons suits anyone who grew up on rally stages, touring car grids and late-night Formula 1, and wants that era on the wall of a garage, office, bedroom or games room. A framed poster makes a straightforward gift for a motorsport fan, while a skate deck adds a different shape to a wall display. Grouping prints of one marque, such as a run of BMW touring cars, or a set from one racing era is an easy way to build a themed collection.

Order Grid Icons from The Drivers HQ with UK-wide delivery. These posters and skate decks are sent out by Grid Icons itself, and you can order them alongside your detailing products and other car culture gifts from our range, which makes it simple to put together a present for the motorsport fan in your life, from a single poster to a matching set of favourite race cars for a garage or games room wall.

Built for Collectors, Created by an Enthusiast

Grid Icons was founded by Dan Chubb, who was raised on the sound of rally cars tearing through forests, late-night Formula 1 broadcasts and the golden era of automotive culture. Watching Colin McRae on gravel stages and Michael Schumacher in Formula 1 shaped what the brand calls a lifelong obsession with the machines, liveries and drivers that defined an era. Alongside the artwork, Dan has built a large personal diecast collection of rally cars, touring cars, endurance racers and Formula 1 cars.

The brand traces its start to a single drawing. Its home page says "EST 2023" and "On 07/12/23, I Drew a 190E Poster, the rest is history", and what began as a creative outlet grew into a brand dedicated to capturing automotive culture through minimalist collector artwork. Grid Icons says it has created more than 150 original designs and served over 1,000 customers, from the UK to the United States and Australia.

Every piece is digitally designed by Dan himself, using reference images sourced from customers or carefully selected online photography so that every detail is captured accurately. The brand also trades at automotive events and shows in the UK, where it meets enthusiasts who share its passion for motorsport, design and nostalgia.

Posters, Framed Prints and Skate Decks

Grid Icons describes its work as iconic race cars reimagined as collectible automotive art. Each poster is accurate and detailed, picking out the unique attributes of the original car but giving them "a stylised and contemporary graphic treatment" so the design looks distinct on the wall. On its own site the brand lists its poster prints in A3 (29.7cm x 42cm) to fit standard size frames, printed on 170gsm coated paper stock and available framed or unframed.

The skate decks are illustrated designs made to hang as wall art. Grid Icons says its decks are crafted from 7-ply hard rock maple and describes them as suitable for both experienced riders and collectors. At The Drivers HQ you will find decks such as the 1991 Williams FW14, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 rally car and the BMW E30 M3 DTM Group A in both Jagermeister and Warsteiner liveries.

The range is organised by era and marque, with collections on the brand's own site for Group 5 and Group C race cars, DTM (Group A), rally cars, JDM and Formula 1, as well as Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Nissan and Porsche. The designs we stock follow the same thread, from the BMW E21 Jaegermeister Group 5 and DTM touring cars to the Group B era Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 and the 911 GT3 RS (992).
