How To Use

Using it

  1. Wash the vehicle as normal and rinse the shampoo off with tap water first.
  2. Fit the filter inline between tap and hose, or between hose and pole.
  3. Connect using the male Hozelock inlet and female Hozelock outlet so water flows the right way.
  4. Turn the water on gently and let the flow settle.
  5. Rinse from the roof down, panel by panel, with a steady low flow.
  6. Let the panels air dry or blot lightly with a clean drying towel.
  7. Watch the resin colour and stop once it has turned yellow.

Cleaning and storage

  1. Turn off the water supply before disconnecting the filter.
  2. Drain the hose connections and wipe the Hozelock fittings clean.
  3. Keep grit out of the connectors so they seal properly next time.
  4. Store the filter somewhere frost free, as ice can damage housings and resin.
  5. Keep it out of direct sunlight between jobs.

Aquaspray inline filters and carry tanks

Inline filter. The Spotless Inline Water Filter is 30cm long with a male Hozelock inlet and a female Hozelock outlet, so it fits between the tap and the hose, or the hose and a water-fed pole, without tools. Its mixed-bed resin is exclusive to the Aquaspray range and changes colour from blue to yellow as it is used up. The cartridge is clear, so you can see when to change the resin without a TDS meter.

Carry tanks. The De-Ionising Carry Tank comes in 10, 15 and 25 litre sizes, filled with resin, with a swivelling metal carry handle and brass Hozelock-type male and female couplings. The 25 litre tank adds a Multi-Flow Control dial that switches between bypass, backwash, fast rinse and filter modes.

Hard water. In very hard water areas the resin is used up faster and needs changing more often. Aquaspray's hardness table runs from soft, up to 100mg/L of calcium carbonate, to very hard, over 300mg/L.

Using it. Make the filtered water the last rinse after the wash, then let the car dry or pat it dry with a towel.

Aquaspray filter trolleys and resin

Two-stage trolley. The Two-Stage DI Trolley has two de-ionising resin stages on a frame with heavy-duty rubber wheels, and produces up to 2,000 litres of de-ionised water per resin change, depending on water hardness. It weighs 21.5kg and connects to most pressure washers and hose systems.

Three-stage filter. The Three-Stage De-Ionising Water Filter adds a carbon filter as the first stage, which removes chlorine and organic compounds to protect the resin. Two resin stages then purify the water, which Aquaspray says reaches 0 PPM, and a built-in digital TDS meter shows the purity of the water coming out. It gives up to 3,000 litres per filter change, depending on water hardness, and weighs 24kg.

Refill resin. The Mixed Bed Resin comes in 10 and 20 litre quantities of ready to use amber beads, for refilling DI cartridges. Aquaspray rates it for conductivity below 0.1 μS/cm and a maximum operating temperature of 60°C.

Pure water for the whole wash. De-ionised water is mainly for the final rinse, but Aquaspray notes that using it for the whole wash can also improve foaming.
