Clay Rider is a clay lubricant that provides the necessary glide to allow a clay bar to gently lift contamination off any painted surface whilst significantly reducing the risk of marring during use. It is well suited for any paint preparation step giving your vehicle the necessary treatment before any wax or protection is applied. ValetPro recommends its Contamination Bar range, which is well suited for bonded dirt that can get trapped on a painted surface.

How To Use

Claying

  1. Wash and rinse the car first.
  2. Spray the panel generously.
  3. Spray the clay as well.
  4. Glide the clay over the wet panel with light pressure.
  5. Add more whenever the clay starts to grab.

Finishing

  1. Wipe the panel with a clean microfibre.
  2. Move on to the next panel.
  3. Polish or protect the paint afterwards.
  4. Store the bottle upright out of direct sunlight.

Top Tip: Adding more lubricant the moment the clay starts to grab is the easiest way to avoid marring.

ValetPro is a British car care maker, ValetPRO Ltd, founded in 2005 by Greg Spink, who started professional detailing in 1999. It grew from a warehouse in Framfield to a purpose-built 12,000 sq ft site in Newhaven, East Sussex, opened in 2018. Its focus is reliable, economical, easy-to-use cleaning and protection, developed in-house, with particular expertise in pH-neutral formulas, and it exports to more than 30 countries.

ValetPro wash, decontamination and protection

Snow foam. pH Neutral Snow Foam is for regular maintenance washes. Advanced Neutral cleans tougher grime with less foam. Foamula 1 combines cleaning with a thicker foam: 100 to 300ml in the lance bottle topped up to 1 litre, left for five minutes without drying. Snow Foam Combo 2 is alkaline, for stripping old protection before a reset. Also Citrus Pre Wash.

Shampoo. Advanced Poseidon is a gloss-enhancing shampoo at 30ml in 5 litres of water. Ceramic Shampoo adds SiO2-derived protection at 15ml in 5 litres, which ValetPro rates at up to four weeks. Also Concentrated Car Wash, and for caravans Caravan Wash and Shine and Luxury Caravan Wash.

Wheels and decontamination. Bilberry is an alkaline, acid-free wheel cleaner for painted and lacquered wheels: neat for heavy dirt or 1:10 for light, never left to dry, then pressure rinsed. It is not for unlacquered or polished rims. Dragon's Breath is a neutral gel that turns red as it reacts with iron fallout on wheels and paint: on a washed, cool car, leave it five minutes without drying, rinse, then wash again. Then Citrus Tar and Glue Remover, Bug Remover and clay bars in mild, medium and heavy, with Clay Rider lubricant.

Protection. Snow Seal goes on through the foam lance (50ml with 250ml of water) and is rinsed before drying; keep it off the windscreen and do not use it on convertibles. Citrus Bling is a spray protection and drying aid, about four weeks on its own; Indulgence Cream Wax is a carnauba liquid wax lasting a few months; Matte Protect protects matte paint and vinyl without adding gloss.

ValetPro interior, convertible care and tools

Interior. Advanced Interior Cleaner, Classic All Purpose Cleaner, Classic Carpet Cleaner, Enzyme Odour Eater, Fabric Sealer, Leather Soap and Leather Protector, Glass Cleaner and the Coconut Crush air freshener.

Convertibles, trim and tyres. Drop Top Convertible Cleaner and Drop Top Protector for fabric roofs, with the Convertible Hood Brush and Upholstery Brush. Black to The Future restores trim and tyres; Classic Tyre Dressing and Maximum Shine Tyre Gel dress tyres.

Brushes. Chemical Resistant Brush (plastic or wooden handle), Dash / Interior Brush, Large Sash Brush, Large and Small Ultra Soft Brush, Foam Detailing Brushes, Long Reach Wheel Brush and Twisted Long Reach Wheel Brush.

Microfibres and pads. Drying towels at 50 x 80cm (also grey), the Ultra Soft Buffing Towel, edgeless cloths, glass cloths, multi-purpose cloths and the wash mitt. Polishing pads: Maximum microfibre, Medium-Heavy orange, Light-Medium yellow, 6.5in white polish and 6.5in black finishing, plus polish and wax applicators, a mixer bottle and a 5L dispenser pump.
