Full Description

303® Fabric Guard keeps fabrics fresh, soft, colourful and breathable…all while adding a powerful coating to repel water and prevent the most serious of stains.

Use it to keep rugs clean and covers blemish-free. You can even spray it on your convertible top’s seams to prevent wicking.

When applied to clean and dry fabrics, 303® Fabric Guard restores lost water and stain repellency to straight-from-the-factory levels. Keep all your favourite fabrics crisp and clean for years to come.

DIRECTIONS:

Product liquid and spray are flammable, keep product and treated article (until dry) away from heat, sparks or open flames. Do not smoke when applying 303® Fabric Guard. Spray until evenly wet, overlapping sprayed areas.

NOTE: Reduced coverage when applied with paint roller or brush. Apply to fabric above 70°F/21°C. (For quicker drying/curing and best results, apply in full sun.) Treated material must be protected from rain/dew until completely cured. CURING: 12-24 hours dependent on temperature. If these steps are performed correctly, the material will be water repellent at this point. 303® Fabric Guard will need reapplication depending on fabric exposure to sunlight and weather conditions; pour water on fabric to determine need to retreat fabric. COVERAGE: 40-75 sq. ft. (3.7 x 7m² per 16oz) depending on material and application method.

Expert Notes

303 Fabric Guard is a spray-on protector that restores lost water and stain repellency to outdoor fabrics, made for synthetic and natural fibres. We see it as the finishing step after cleaning a fabric convertible roof, awning, parasol, boat cover or garden cushion. It does not alter colour, feel or breathability, and it is not intended for interior car or home upholstery. Apply it above 21°C on clean, dry fabric, spray evenly and allow 12 to 24 hours to cure away from rain and dew. A 473ml bottle covers about 40 to 75 sq ft. Pair it with a dedicated fabric roof cleaner and a soft upholstery brush.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Fabric convertible roofs
  • Awnings and canopies
  • Parasols and umbrellas
  • Outdoor cushions and pillows
  • Boat covers and Bimini tops
  • Outdoor rugs
  • Patio furniture fabrics

Caution: The liquid and spray are flammable: keep the bottle and treated fabric away from heat, sparks and flames until dry. Use on outdoor fabrics only.

How To Use

Application

  1. Start with newly cleaned fabric that is completely dry.
  2. Work in a well-ventilated area in warm weather above 21°C, ideally in full sun for quicker curing.
  3. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames, and do not smoke while spraying.
  4. Spray until the fabric is evenly wet but not saturated, overlapping each pass in a crisscross pattern.
  5. Spray rather than roll or brush it on, as a roller or brush reduces coverage.
  6. Wipe any overspray off glass or plastic with rubbing alcohol, washing-up liquid and water.

Aftercare

  1. Keep the treated fabric out of rain and dew until it has fully cured.
  2. Allow 12 to 24 hours for curing, depending on the temperature.
  3. Once cured, pour a little water on the fabric to check it is being repelled.
  4. Reapply when water starts to soak in, as sun and weather exposure wear the treatment.
  5. Clean and dry the fabric again before each reapplication.
  6. Store the bottle closed and upright, away from heat sources.

Top Tip: Treat convertible roof seams as well as the panels, since 303 recommends spraying seams to help prevent wicking.

  • Helps stop wicking at roof seams

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 303 Fabric Guard do?

It restores lost water and stain repellency to clean, dry fabric, which 303 describes as a return to straight-from-the-factory levels. It adds a coating that repels water and water-based stains while the fabric stays soft and breathable.

Can I use it on car seats or home upholstery?

No, 303 recommends Fabric Guard only for outdoor fabrics, not the interior fabrics of a house or vehicle. Use it on convertible roofs, awnings, umbrellas, boat covers and outdoor cushions.

Will it change the look or feel of the fabric?

No, 303 states it does not alter fabric colour, feel, flammability or breathability. It is made for outdoor synthetic and natural fibres.

How long does it take to cure?

Curing takes 12 to 24 hours depending on temperature. Apply above 21°C, ideally in full sun, and keep the fabric out of rain and dew until it has fully cured.

How much fabric does a bottle cover?

A 473ml (16oz) bottle covers about 40 to 75 sq ft, roughly 3.7 to 7m², depending on the material and application method. Coverage drops if you use a roller or brush instead of spraying.

Does it give UV protection?

Not directly. 303 explains that Fabric Guard protects the original UV resistance of outdoor fabrics by adding water repellency and stain resistance, which helps prolong the life of the fabric.

Is it flammable?

Yes, the liquid and spray are flammable, so keep the product and treated fabric away from heat, sparks and flames until dry. 303 states that once cured it does not affect the fire resistance of the fabric.

What sizes are available?

303 Fabric Guard is available in 59ml, 473ml, 946ml and 3.78L sizes, with UK-wide delivery from The Drivers HQ.

HQ Suggests Tips & Insights

  1. Brush loose dirt out of the weave before cleaning and treating.
  2. Apply in warm, dry weather above 21°C.
  3. Treat one section at a time so the coverage stays even.
  4. Mask nearby paint, glass and plastic before spraying a convertible roof.
  5. Check the forecast so no rain falls while the treatment cures.
  6. Use it straight from the bottle, as no mixing or dilution is needed.
  7. Repair torn seams first, as it will not seal a leaking roof.

The Brand

303

303 is a surface protection brand whose story began in 1980, when its founder saw that the aviation and aerospace industry needed a treatment to protect rubber and plastics against UV and ozone degradation. Its flagship Aerospace Protectant was originally engineered to protect aircraft rubber wing boots at high altitudes, and the range now covers protectants and cleaners for everything from cars and boats to outdoor furniture and gear. Since 2012, 303 has been part of Gold Eagle Co., the Chicago company behind STA-BIL, and the brand describes its products as Proven to Protect.

The Drivers HQ stocks 303 for the inside and outside of the car. Plastic, vinyl and rubber protection comes from Aerospace Protectant and Protectant Wipes. For paintwork there are the Automotive Speed Detailer and the Slick Shine Ceramic Detailer, and the Wheel & Tire Cleaner takes care of the wheels and tyres. Leather Cleaner and Leather Conditioner look after leather, and Multi-Surface Cleaner tackles stains.

303 suits drivers who want protection that is easy to apply, as well as detailers finishing off a full valet. After the wash, a quick detailer such as Speed Detailer or Slick Shine adds gloss and keeps the finish fresh between washes. Protectant then goes onto clean, dry dashboards, trim, tyres and seals, and 303 says it dries to a clean, matte finish with no slick residue. The leather cleaner and conditioner suit cars with leather seats.

Buy 303 from The Drivers HQ with tracked UK-wide delivery, or visit our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. Whether you are replacing a favourite bottle of Aerospace Protectant or putting together a full set of interior and exterior protection, you can order 303 alongside the rest of your detailing kit in one basket, and advice is available before you buy if you are not sure which product suits a surface.

303 Aerospace Protectant (3 Sizes) - The Drivers HQ

From Aircraft Wing Boots to Cars

303 traces its story back to 1980. In Gold Eagle's announcement of the acquisition, the company explains that founder Dennis A. Praegitzer recognised that the aviation and aerospace industry needed something that did not exist: a protective chemical treatment for rubber and plastics that actually protected against UV and ozone degradation.

That need produced the product 303 still calls its flagship. The brand says Aerospace Protectant was originally engineered to protect aircraft rubber wing boots at high altitudes, and it describes today's formula as water-based and silicone-free, drying to a clear matte finish with no greasy film. The same UV protection is now used on dashboards, convertible tops, tyres and trim, as well as boat seats and patio furniture.

In 2012 Gold Eagle Co., the Chicago company behind STA-BIL, acquired 303 Products, and 303 is now presented on Gold Eagle's website alongside its other brands. The brand says its formulations undergo rigorous internal testing and have built over 40 years of field-tested trust, and it sums up its range with the line Proven to Protect.

303 GRAPHENE NANO SPRAY COATING 473ML - The Drivers HQ

Protectants, Coatings and Fabric Care

303 describes Automotive Protectant as delivering UV protection for a vehicle's rubber, vinyl and plastic surfaces, whether that is the dashboard, trim, tyres or weather seals. It dries to a clean matte finish and repels dust, dirt and stains, and the brand says one application gives protection for up to 30 to 45 days. 303 also stresses buffing it dry with a clean towel, because the product does not air dry.

For paintwork, 303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating is a graphene oxide based coating that the brand says protects for up to 12 months and lowers surface temperature to reduce hard water spots. It bonds without prior paint correction or decontamination, can be applied in direct sunlight and works on glass, wheels and trim as well as paint. Between washes, 303 Automotive Speed Detailer adds gloss, with anti-static properties and UV blockers in its formula.

303 Fabric Guard restores lost water and stain repellency to outdoor fabrics, and 303 says it is recommended by Sunbrella, the outdoor fabric manufacturer. On a car, the brand suggests spraying it on a convertible top's seams to prevent wicking, and it does not recommend it for a vehicle's interior fabrics. The Drivers HQ stocks 303 Multi-Surface Cleaner, which the brand says removes stubborn spots from coffee, oil, grease and ink, and the leather care products for the cabin.

I think it works well but the spray was faulty on my bottle and had to decant it into another spray bottle

Sorry you felt that a bad spray head makes this product rated so low. If you order again or come in please let me know I'll throw in a spray head to make up for it. I hope you found the product good, though.
