The Brand

Hayburner

Hayburner is an independent magazine for the air-cooled Volkswagen scene, and it describes itself as the largest independent air-cooled Volkswagen magazine in the world. It comes out 4 times a year in print as Hayburner Plus, alongside the free Hayburner Digital download, and concentrates on air-cooled builds, VW and Porsche stories and classic car enthusiast news. Around the magazine, Hayburner sells a range of branded merchandise and clothing, together with products for your VW and the workshop wall.

The Drivers HQ stocks Hayburner clothing and back issues. Clothing includes the Fuchs Black Edition Short Sleeve Tee, the Black 'Classic' Baseball Shirt and a Grey Vest top, and for reading there is Hayburner Magazine Issue 38 (Summer 2021).

Hayburner suits anyone who lives and breathes the air-cooled Volkswagen world, from Beetle owners to classic Porsche fans. The clothing makes an easy car culture wardrobe for shows, meets and workshop days, and the magazines give you build stories and features to read between projects. Hayburner notes that the Black 'Classic' Baseball Shirt comes up a size smaller, so it advises ordering one size up.

Buy Hayburner from The Drivers HQ with tracked UK-wide delivery, or call in at our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. Pick up a tee for the next show, add a back issue to your reading pile, or combine Hayburner gear with car care products and other car culture clothing in a single order.

HAYBURNER BLACK 'CLASSIC' BASEBALL SHIRT - The Drivers HQ

Born Around a Campfire

According to Hayburner, the idea for the magazine came from a discussion around a campfire with friends, when the UK economic climate was affecting the VW scene and the editor, Ned, was doing autojumbles to keep afloat. The concept was to start a company that benefitted everyone involved: businesses could promote their products at a very cheap rate, and readers got a free magazine.

The name has its own story. Hayburner explains that it is an old 50s hot-rodders' term for a car that will always cost you money, which will ring true for anyone keeping a classic on the road. The magazine concentrates on air-cooled builds, VW and Porsche stories and classic car enthusiast news, and the team attends and trades at UK and European shows each year.

Faced with a huge rise in print costs, Hayburner chose to breathe new life into the magazine rather than let it fade away. Hayburner Digital is a free download for readers anywhere in the world, while Hayburner Plus is a bigger printed edition with extra features and content for subscribers. The team asks readers to use its online shop to help support the magazine.

Air-Cooled Style for Shows and Garages

Hayburner's clothing carries its name or logo, and the Fuchs Black Edition tee adds a wheel design. The brand says that tee features artwork by Mad Maxim, hand screen printed in the UK, and is unisex, while the Black 'Classic' Baseball Shirt carries the classic screen printed logo. The Drivers HQ also stocks a Grey Vest top.

Then there is the magazine itself. The Drivers HQ stocks Hayburner Magazine Issue 38 (Summer 2021), from the magazine that concentrates on air-cooled builds, VW and Porsche stories and classic car enthusiast news.
