Full Description

  • pH neutral formulation, won't remove any previously applied layers of wax or polish.
  • Reduces the risk of scratches and swirl marks.

Autoglym Polar Blast is a concentrated snow foam pre-wash, supplied here in a 2.5L bottle. It is pH neutral, and Autoglym states it does not remove previously applied waxes or sealants and can be used on matt and satin paint, so it suits protected cars as well as regular maintenance washes. Applied through a foam gun on a pressure washer, its thick, high-cling foam loosens dirt and heavy soiling before anything touches the paint, which reduces the risk of scratching during the contact wash. Autoglym's testers recommend 1:5, or 100ml of product to 500ml of water, with a working range from neat to 1:10 and a dwell of up to 10 minutes. Follow it with a shampoo contact wash, a clean wash mitt and a microfibre drying towel.

How To Use

Application

  1. Check that the bodywork and wheels are cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight.
  2. Pre-dilute Polar Blast in your foam gun bottle, starting at 1:5 with 100ml of product to 500ml of water.
  3. Attach the foam gun to your pressure washer and spray from the bottom of the car upwards.
  4. Cover every exterior surface, including the glass and wheels.
  5. Leave the foam to dwell for up to 10 minutes to loosen dirt, but do not let it dry on.
  6. Rinse thoroughly from the bottom up with the pressure washer, without agitating the foam.

Aftercare

  1. Follow the pre-wash with a two-bucket contact wash using car shampoo and a clean wash mitt.
  2. Dry the car with a clean microfibre drying towel before water can dry on the paint.
  3. Rinse the foam gun bottle and flush the gun through with clean water after use.
  4. Top up wax or sealant protection as needed, since Polar Blast leaves existing layers in place.
  5. Store the bottle upright with the cap closed, away from frost and direct heat.

Top Tip: Foam thickness also depends on your pressure washer settings and water hardness, so adjust the dilution between neat and 1:10.

Performance Benefits

  • Reduces risk of wash scratches and swirls
  • Touch-free first stage of the wash
  • Dwells for up to 10 minutes
  • Foam thickness tuned by dilution
  • Safe on all areas of the car
  • Softens soiling ahead of shampooing

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is this Polar Blast?

This is Autoglym Polar Blast in a 2.5L bottle. It is a concentrated snow foam, so it is diluted before use in a foam gun.

What dilution should I use?

Autoglym's testers recommend 1 part Polar Blast to 5 parts water, and 100ml of product to 500ml of water in the foam gun bottle is a good starting point. The product is developed to work anywhere from neat to 1 part Polar Blast to 10 parts water.

Will Polar Blast remove my wax or sealant?

No, Autoglym states that Polar Blast is pH neutral and does not remove previously applied waxes or sealants.

Can I use Polar Blast from a bucket?

No, Autoglym designed Polar Blast for use through a foam gun attached to a pressure washer and does not recommend using it in a bucket.

How long should I leave the foam on?

Leave Polar Blast to dwell for up to 10 minutes to loosen dirt, but do not let it dry on. Then rinse thoroughly from the bottom up.

Should I agitate the foam with a brush or mitt?

Autoglym does not recommend agitation as part of the pre-wash. Rinse the foam off with the pressure washer first, then carry out your contact wash with shampoo and a wash mitt.

Can I use Polar Blast on matt or satin paint?

Yes, Autoglym confirms Polar Blast can be used on matt and satin paint. It also states the foam is safe to use on all areas of the car, and its instructions cover glass and wheels.

What should I use after Polar Blast?

Follow it with a contact wash using a car shampoo and a clean wash mitt, then dry with a microfibre towel. In the Autoglym Polar range, the matching shampoo is Polar Wash.

The Brand

Autoglym

Autoglym is a British car care brand that says it has been bringing clarity to vehicle care since 1965. The company says what began as a small specialist operation has grown into a brand used in over 45 countries, with products used by enthusiasts, professionals and vehicle manufacturers. Autoglym describes its snow foams, polish and wax as designed and manufactured in the UK, and it works across Retail products for drivers, Autoglym Professional for vehicle care, transport and fleet operators, and paint protection.

The Drivers HQ stocks two Autoglym products from its Polar range, both built around snow foam washing. Autoglym Polar Blast 2.5L is a snow foam pre-wash, applied through a pressure washer to cover the car in thick foam that loosens dirt before anything touches the paint. Alongside it is the Autoglym Snow Foam Lance for Karcher K Series pressure washers, the foam gun Autoglym sells as the Polar Blaster, which fixes to the pressure washer lance and draws diluted product from its own reservoir bottle.

Polar Blast suits anyone who washes with a pressure washer and wants to cut the chance of swirl marks from a wash mitt dragging grit across the paint. Autoglym says loosening heavy soiling before shampooing reduces the risk of scratches and swirl marks, and because Polar Blast is pH neutral it will not remove wax. In a typical routine you foam the car from the bottom up, let the foam dwell without drying, rinse thoroughly from the bottom up, then shampoo, dry and add your chosen protection.

Buy Autoglym from The Drivers HQ with tracked UK-wide delivery, or visit our walk-in store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, where Click & Collect is free. Autoglym designed the Polar Blaster to work with its Polar range, so Polar Blast and the Karcher K Series foam lance make a sensible pair if you are setting up snow foam washing for the first time. You can add wash, drying and protection products from the rest of our car care range to the same order.

British Car Care Since 1965

Autoglym says it has been bringing clarity to vehicle care since 1965 and has been trusted in vehicle care for over 60 years. The company describes itself as proud to be British, part of a nation it calls car loving and vehicle proud with a rich heritage of manufacturing, and it states that its snow foams, polish and wax are designed and manufactured in the UK.

According to Autoglym, what began as a small specialist operation has grown into a brand used in over 45 countries. It describes its team as chemists, engineers, craftspeople and car lovers, and says it develops products in its own laboratories and testing facilities with a focus on quality, consistency and performance, continuing to learn, test and innovate as vehicles, materials and technologies change.

Today Autoglym works across Retail, Professional and Paint Protection. It says operators across vehicle care, transport and fleet choose Autoglym Professional, and its Technical Services team offers practical training, technical advice and support. AUTOGLYM SNOW FOAM LANCE KARTCHER K SERIES - The Drivers HQ

The Polar Snow Foam System

Autoglym groups its snow foam products as the Polar range: Polar Blast, Polar Wash, Polar Seal and the Polar Blaster foam gun, with adapters so the range can be used with other pressure washers. Autoglym describes Polar Blast as a touch-free pre-wash whose thick, high-cling foam gently loosens dirt and heavy soiling without any physical contact, preparing the car for its shampoo wash. It is pH neutral, so Autoglym says it will not remove wax.

Autoglym says Polar Blast has been developed to work neat through to one part product to ten parts water, and that it has been very happy with its performance diluted at 1:5. It is formulated to go through a pressure washer rather than a bucket, and it can be left to dwell for up to 10 minutes before rinsing, provided it is not allowed to dry on. On a lightly soiled car, Autoglym says it can be used in place of a shampoo after a first rinse.

The Snow Foam Lance for Karcher K Series machines that we stock is the foam gun Autoglym calls the Polar Blaster. It fixes to the pressure washer lance and draws diluted product from a wide neck reservoir bottle, with a dial to adjust the foam level and a nozzle to change the spray pattern. Autoglym supplies it with a connector for all models in the Karcher K-Series, designed and tested it for its three Polar products, and advises flushing it through with clean water after use.
