The Brand

Foose Design

Foose Design is the automotive and product design company of Chip Foose, who started it in Santa Barbara, California in 1984 and moved it to Huntington Beach in 1999 after working with Boyd Coddington at Hot Rods by Boyd. The company handles illustration, graphics, model making, surfacing and the complete construction of cars and car related products for private owners and car makers. Many drivers know Chip from Overhaulin', the TV series that began on TLC in April 2004.

Chip Foose, car designer

Started young. Chip was born and raised in Santa Barbara and his first job was in his father's company, Project Design. By the age of twelve he already had five years of experience and had painted his first car, a Porsche 356.

Art Center. A chance meeting with Alex Tremulis, designer of the Tucker, pushed him towards Art Center, where he studied automotive product design and graduated with honours in 1990. By then he had been a staff designer and fabricator at the Asha Corporation since 1986, becoming its director of design in 1989.

Overhaulin'. In the series, owners were tricked while Chip and his team restored their prized car in a week. Its original five seasons made nearly 90 automotive dreams come true.
