Expert Notes

Little Joe Black Velvet is the classic smiling character vent clip in black, carrying a scent with notes of lemon, bergamot, tonka bean and lavender. It clips onto a dashboard vent blade and relies on airflow from the fan or air conditioning to carry fragrance through the cabin, giving up to 45 days of scent in the car. The formula is alcohol free, and Little Joe fresheners are designed in Switzerland and made in Italy. It suits drivers who prefer a blended scent to a single fruit note, and it can also be used at home or in the office. Fit it after an interior clean and vacuum, because a freshener adds fragrance rather than removing the source of odours.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Car dashboard air vents
  • Van and pickup cab vents
  • Daily commuter cars
  • Taxis and private hire cars
  • Rooms at home
  • Office spaces

Caution: Labelled harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Keep it away from children and dispose of used fresheners in line with local regulations.

How To Use

Using it

  1. Remove the Little Joe Black Velvet freshener from its packaging.
  2. Choose a dashboard air vent that you use regularly.
  3. Clip it gently onto a single vent blade until it holds firmly.
  4. Check it does not stop the vent adjusting or hide any controls.
  5. Run the fan or air conditioning so airflow carries the scent around the cabin.

Making it last

  1. Lower the fan speed or close the vent if the scent feels too strong.
  2. Keep the character off leather, painted and soft-touch trim.
  3. Clean and vacuum the interior first, as it adds fragrance rather than removing odours.
  4. Expect up to 45 days of fragrance, then replace it with a fresh one.
  5. Dispose of the used freshener in line with local regulations.

Top Tip: Clip it to the vent you use most so steady airflow carries the Black Velvet scent evenly.

Performance Benefits

  • Brings lemon and bergamot notes
  • Adds lavender and tonka bean notes

  • Fragrances the car interior
  • Clips easily onto vent blades
  • Also suits home and office

The Brand

Little Joe

Little Joe is the smiling 3D car air freshener character from Drive Int. AG, a Swiss company founded in 2015 after the Little Joe brand launched. Its line is Put a smile in the air, and the company says it has brought a smile to more than 70 countries through over 100 distribution partners. In early 2021 it opened its own production facility in Italy, Drive Italy S.r.l, as a wholly owned subsidiary, and the packs carry a Made in Italy line. Drive Int. AG is ISO 9001 certified by TÜV, and its fragrances are created to IFRA standards and comply with REACH requirements.

How they work. Every Little Joe is a happy 3D figure made from a specially scented polymer, with a two-step clip that pushes onto an air vent slat. The air flowing through the vent carries the fragrance round the cabin, and Little Joe gives a natural, discreet scent for about 45 days, while the smile lasts long after.

The classic Little Joe. About 5cm long, each colour has its own scent: New Car is the blue one, Strawberry candy pink, Flower pale pink, Cherry red, Pina Colada pale yellow, Orange Sorbet orange and Black Velvet all black, packed on a night-sky card with a full moon and a wolf.

Choosing by colour. The figure's colour matches its scent tab, which makes it easy to recognise a favourite again. Strawberry and Flower are both pink, so check the tab when choosing.

Little Joe Thumbs Up and Little Dog

Little Joe Thumbs Up and Little Dog

Thumbs Up. Little Joe Thumbs Up is the same happy 3D character giving a thumbs up, also on the two-step vent clip and also lasting about 45 days. We stock it in Pacific Splash, Funky Vanilla, the yellow one with a sweet vanilla scent, and Cool Mint.

Little Dog. Little Dog is a balloon dog made for pet owners, on the same two-step vent clip, with about 45 days of fragrance. It comes in Cherry in red, Flower in pink and New Car in blue, in a black pack printed with bright cartoon cars and flowers.

Getting the best from them. Push the clip onto a vent slat that has air flowing through it; the more air, the more scent. Freshen a clean cabin, after a vacuum and with the source of any smell dealt with. Little Joe also works in a small space at home, such as a cupboard or a drawer.

A Little Joe or a Little Dog makes a cheerful stocking filler. Shop more air fresheners and odour control.
