Full Description

The HLR15 is the 15mm orbit BigFoot iBrid. The pictures show the black body with its carbon pattern and blue pinstripe, the red tabbed 18V battery at the back and the number 15 on top of the head. The wider orbit is the HLR21, and the small one is the HLR75 mini.

iBrid means the polisher runs from its battery or from the mains. The 18V, 5Ah lithium-ion battery gives up to 40 minutes at full power, as Rupes states it, and the dual charger tops up the battery with the higher voltage first so that one is always ready. Rupes lists a new eccentric set, a new anti-spinning ring, an in-runner brushless motor, new gear technology and an LED indicator.

How To Use

Polishing

  1. Wash, decontaminate and dry the car first.
  2. Charge the battery and fit a clean pad centred on the backing plate.
  3. Prime the pad with a little polish and spread it at low speed.
  4. Work small sections with slow overlapping passes, then wipe off and check.

Afterwards

  1. Switch it off and remove the battery.
  2. Remove and clean the pad.
  3. Recharge the battery as the maker directs.
  4. Store it dry, away from heat.

Top Tip: Keeping a charged spare battery ready means a panel never has to stop halfway through correction.
