Rupes BigFoot LHR15 Mark V Polisher LUX Kit

The Rupes BigFoot LHR15 Mark V LUX Kit is the full set: the 15mm random orbital polisher with wool, foam and microfibre pads, three Rupes liquids, three microfibre cloths, a pad tool and a bag to carry it all. Rupes packs 17 items in the kit (code LHR15V/LUX), enough to take paintwork from heavy correction through to a protected finish.

What is in the LUX Kit

• BigFoot LHR15 Mark V polisher: the 500W random orbital polisher with a 15mm orbit, a 125mm backing pad, speed control from 3000 to 5200 RPM and a 9m cord. Rupes fits POLYSYNTHEC composite gears, lists 47% less noise than its earlier models and has lowered the centre of gravity by 13mm.
• D-A Coarse polishing compound, 250ml (9.DACOARSE250): the fast cutting compound for moderate to severe defects and sanding marks. Rupes lists a durable lubrication system for a longer working time, a low dusting formula and an easy wipe off.
• D-A Fine polishing compound, 250ml (9.DAFINE250): a fine polish that combines cutting with finishing. Rupes describes it as the second step after D-A Coarse or as a polish on its own for light defects, with an easy wipe off that leaves fewer towel marks on soft paints.
• UNO Protect one step polish and sealant, 250ml (9.PROTECT250): an all in one compound, polish and protectant. Rupes says it removes moderate to light defects in one step, polishes to a high gloss with a blend of polymer, silicone and carnauba, and leaves a protective layer that lasts up to 90 days.
• D-A Coarse wool polishing pad, 130mm: the Rupes wool pad for dual action tools, made for removing severe paint defects. Rupes names wool pads among the pads its D-A Coarse compound is optimised for.
• D-A Medium wool polishing pad, 130mm (9.NW130M): made for removing moderate defects. Its yellow foam is highly flexible for control on curves and contours, and the wool keeps a uniform 15mm fibre length across the pad.
• D-A Intermediate foam polishing pad, 130/150mm (9.DA150B): Rupes places it between its D-A Fine yellow pad and its D-A Coarse blue pad and calls it the most versatile foam pad in the BigFoot range. With D-A Coarse it removes severe defects, with D-A Fine it removes moderate to fine defects and leaves a high gloss finish, and it works with UNO Protect for final polishing.
• D-A Fine foam polishing pad, 130/150mm (9.DA150M): the yellow finishing foam pad. Rupes pairs it with D-A Fine for moderate to fine defect removal, paint refinement or final finishing after heavy compounding.
• D-A Coarse microfibre pad, 130mm (9.MF130H): the extreme cut pad, made to remove severe defects, sanding marks and scratches quickly on fully cured or harder paint. Rupes pairs it with D-A Coarse for its fastest defect removal.
• D-A Fine microfibre pad, 130mm (9.MF130M): for moderate defects, swirls, haze and holograms on fully cured paint. Its semi flexible foam backing follows varied panel shapes, and Rupes pairs it with D-A Fine.
• D-A Ultra Fine microfibre pad, 130mm (9.MF130S): a microfibre face on an extremely soft foam interface for finishing medium to hard clear coats. Rupes uses it with UNO Protect to remove moderate defects, polish and protect in one step.
• Blue (9.BF9050) and yellow (9.BF9060) microfibre cloths: edgeless, short nap cloths with an embossed BigFoot logo, made for removing compound and polish residues.
• White microfibre cloth (9.BF9070): a dual pile cloth. One side has a short weave for breaking up compound and polish residues, the other a more plush weave for the final wipe down and surface inspection.
• BigFoot Claw Pad Tool (9.BF7001): a brush at one end clears compound residue from the pads, and a claw at the other separates a pad from the backing pad.
• Cable clamp (9.Z1024): the red Rupes clamp for the power cord.
• BigFoot silver tools bag (9.Z1169/BF): a foldable carrying bag in silver grey fabric with the RUPES and BigFoot logos, a black adjustable shoulder strap, two short handles, a zip top, internal pockets and a small front pocket. It measures 26cm x 50cm x 27cm open and 7cm x 50cm x 27cm folded.

How the pieces work together

Rupes pairs D-A Coarse with the Coarse wool pad or the Coarse microfibre pad for the heaviest defects, and D-A Fine with the Medium wool, Fine microfibre or Fine foam pad to refine the finish. UNO Protect on the Intermediate foam pad or the Ultra Fine microfibre pad polishes and protects in one step. Rupes covers the polisher with a 5 year warranty when it is registered after purchase.
