The Drivers HQ
The Rupes BigFoot LHR15 Mark V is a random orbital polisher with a 15mm orbit and a 125mm backing pad for correcting and finishing paintwork, sold here as the machine only. Rupes fits POLYSYNTHEC composite gears, lists 47% less noise than its earlier models and has lowered the centre of gravity by 13mm, so the machine sits steadier in the hand on curved panels. The PrecisionPro backing pad has a protective rubber edge for work near edges. Polish a clean, dry panel in small sections: spread the polish at low speed, then correct with slow overlapping passes and light, even pressure. Disconnect the power before changing pads and keep it out of reach of children. Register the polisher with Rupes after purchase for the 5 year warranty.
Caution: Switch it off and disconnect the power before changing pads, keep the cable clear of the pad, and keep the pad flat and moving so heat never builds in one spot. Keep it out of reach of children.
Top Tip: Starting with the least aggressive pad and polish that works keeps as much clear coat as possible.
