Full Description

Better Suds is the Better Car Care car shampoo: a highly concentrated, pH neutral wash that removes everyday dirt and road grime without needlessly wearing down the wax, sealant or ceramic coating already on the car. It mixes into a slick, well lubricated wash solution, so the mitt glides over the paint while the dirt is lifted away.

It suits gloss, satin and matt paint, vinyl wraps and paint protection film, and it is strong enough for professional valeting. Because it is used at 1:600 to 1:800, a single litre makes hundreds of litres of wash solution, which makes it one of the most economical shampoos you can buy.

Expert Notes

Better Suds is the shampoo stage of the Better Car Care routine. It is pH neutral and highly concentrated, so it is used at 1:600 to 1:800: about 17 ml in a 10 litre bucket for maximum cleaning in hard water areas, down to 12.5 ml for maintenance washes of protected cars in soft water. The wash solution is slick, which helps the mitt glide and lift dirt with less friction. It will not strip wax, sealants or ceramic coatings when used as directed, and it suits gloss, satin and matt paint, wraps and PPF. Pre-wash with Better Ripper or Better Thickness first, use two buckets, and dry with the Lie Detector towel.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Gloss paintwork
  • Satin and matt paint
  • Vinyl wraps
  • Paint protection film
  • Waxed and sealed cars
  • Ceramic coated cars
  • Glass and exterior trim

Caution: Measure it, as more is not better at 1:600, and rinse each panel before the wash solution can dry in sun or wind.

  3. Fill a second bucket with plain water and use grit guards if you have them.
  4. Wash from the top down, one panel at a time, with a wash mitt.
  5. Rinse the mitt in the plain water bucket before reloading it.
  6. Rinse the car thoroughly with a pressure washer or hose.

After the wash

  1. Dry with a clean microfibre drying towel.
  2. Add Better Drying rinse aid first for quicker drying.
  3. Rinse both buckets and the mitt.

The Brand

Better Car Care

Better Car Care is a British car care brand run by Better Car Care Ltd from Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, with the motto Better products. Better results. Its range is short and covers every stage of a proper wash, from pre-wash and snow foam to shampoo, wheels, decontamination, drying and finishing, plus a wash mitt and a drying towel. The chemicals come in 1 litre and 5 litre bottles, most of them concentrates, and many are made in the UK. You will know the bottles by the black 8 ball logo with a B on it.

Each product has its own name: Suds is the shampoo, Ripper the citrus pre-wash, Thickness the snow foam and Versatility the all purpose cleaner, while Reaction removes iron fallout, BetTAR shifts tar and glue, Dressed does the tyres and Gloss is the quick detailer. The Lie Detector drying towel has a white side that shows any dirt your wash missed.

We stock the Better Car Care range online and in our Ilkeston shop. Good places to start are Suds car shampoo, Thickness snow foam and the Lie Detector drying towel.

Better Car Care 5 litre range: rinse aid, APC, snow foam, pre-wash, wheel cleaner and shampoo

The Better Car Care range, stage by stage

Pre-wash. Ripper is a non-caustic citrus pre-wash, diluted up to 1:10 in a pump sprayer, for road dirt, bird droppings and bugs, and it doubles as an interior pre-spray. Thickness is a thick, high cling alkaline snow foam that loosens traffic film and grime before you touch the paint.

Wash. Suds is a highly concentrated pH neutral shampoo used at 1:600 to 1:800. It is kind to wax, sealants and ceramic coatings and safe on wraps and PPF. Use it with the plush Better Wash Mitt, whose long pile draws dirt away from the paint.

Wheels and decontamination. The wheel cleaner (Better Wheels) is a non-acid concentrate used from 1:3 to 1:15. Reaction is a pH neutral, colour changing iron fallout remover for paint and wheels, used neat or 1:1, and BetTAR is a ready to use solvent tar and glue remover.

Dry, finish and protect. The rinse aid (Better Drying) makes rinse water sheet off the bodywork and adds gloss and protection, the Lie Detector towel dries the rest, Gloss is a hydrophobic spray and wipe quick detailer, and the tyre and trim dressing (Better Dressed) gives tyres and rubber a deep sheen. Versatility, the all purpose cleaner, covers engine bays, door shuts, trim and carpets.

Shop by type: snow foam, car shampoo, wheel cleaners, iron and fallout removers, quick detailers and drying towels.

Our Better Car Care wash routine

Starting from scratch? This is the wash we recommend with the Better Car Care range:

  1. Spray Ripper, diluted up to 1:10, on the lower panels, front and mirrors, let it work without drying, then rinse.
  2. Foam the car with Thickness, leave it a few minutes, then rinse from the top down.
  3. Clean the wheels with the wheel cleaner at 1:9, agitating with a soft wheel brush.
  4. Wash with Suds at 1:600 to 1:800 and the Better Wash Mitt, using two buckets with grit guards.
  5. Spray on the rinse aid, rinse it off, and dry with the Lie Detector towel, white side first.
  6. Finish with Gloss on the paint and Dressed on the tyres.

Every few months, or before a polish, decontaminate after the wash with Reaction for iron fallout and BetTAR for tar spots, then protect the paint again. Work on a cool car out of direct sunlight and never let any product dry on the paint. The tyre dressing and the tar remover are flammable, so use them outdoors, away from heat.
