The reel comes pre-installed on a metal frame, with a 304 stainless steel reel valve, a hand crank with lock pin and room for up to 100 ft of 5/16" pressure hose. The frame fixes to a 16" backing plate, carries up to 40kg and has dedicated slots for a gun, foam cannon, lance and 4 nozzles. Active optimises it for the Active 2.0 and 2.3, and the supplied jumper hose has an M22 x 14mm female fitting. Pair it with a steel braided pressure hose and your foam cannon for a tidy wash station.

How To Use

Fitting

  1. Check the wall is solid and that no pipes or cables run behind the fixing points.
  2. Fix the mounting plate to the wall with the four 6 x 30mm screws, using wall fixings suited to the wall material.
  3. Secure the frame to the mounting plate with the four M8 x 20mm bolts.
  4. Fit the hand crank and lock it with its pin, then fix the gun holder to the frame with the two M5 x 14 bolts.
  5. Connect the supplied jumper hose, which has an M22 x 14mm female fitting, between your pressure washer and the reel as the Active manual shows.
  6. Adjust the hose clamp and hose clip to secure your pressure hose, then release the lock pin before turning the reel.

Care and checks

  1. Release pressure from the system before winding the hose back onto the reel.
  2. Re-engage the reel lock pin once the hose is wound in or pulled out to length.
  3. Keep the total load on the frame within its 40kg maximum loading capacity.
  4. Check the wall fixings and frame bolts regularly and retighten any that have loosened.
  5. Look for drips at the jumper hose and reel connections before each wash.
  6. Wipe grit and chemical residue off the frame, reel and holders with a damp cloth.
  7. Register the product and keep your proof of purchase, as the 2-year warranty requires registration.

Top Tip: Plan the mounting height so the crank is easy to turn and the hose runs cleanly to your wash area.

What is included in the box?

The kit includes the hose reel pre-installed on its metal frame, a hand crank with lock pin, a mounting plate, a gun holder, a hardware kit and a jumper hose to the pressure washer. Active accessories such as the gun, lance and foam cannon are sold separately.

Which pressure washers does it suit?

Active optimises the kit for the Active 2.0 and 2.3 pressure washers and accessories, but it can store any washer with an M22-14mm outlet. For a machine with an M22-15mm outlet, Active says you need a separate M22-15 jumper hose.

How much hose does the reel hold?

Active's specification gives a maximum of 100 ft of 5/16" pressure hose. The reel has a 300mm outer disc, a 120mm inner barrel and a 200mm width.

How big is it and how much weight can it carry?

The metal cage measures 525 x 350 x 405mm (width x depth x height) and has a maximum loading capacity of 40kg.

What accessories can I store on it?

It has dedicated slots for a pressure washer gun, foam cannon, lance and 4 nozzles. Active says any accessory with a 1/4" male plug can be parked in the accessory mounts.

Does it need assembling?

The Brand

Active

Active is the pressure washer brand of Active Products Inc., a Canadian company led by its founder and president, James Hou. It builds compact electric pressure washers around car enthusiasts and their feedback. Its own timeline runs from the development and patent of its 5-piston pump in 2018, through direct sales of the VE52 and VE51 washers in North America from 2020 and the launch of the Active 2.0 in 2022, to the swivel gun in spring 2024, the foam cannon, lance and hose later that year, and the Active 2.3 Compact and reels and storage in 2025. Active sets its washers at about 1000 PSI with as much water flow as possible, which it sees as the ideal balance for washing cars safely.

Active 2.0, 2.3 and 3.0 pressure washers

Active 2.0. The compact machine, made for DIY detailers and hobbyists: a patented 5-piston pump and a Universal 9650 motor give 2 GPM of flow, and at 431 x 203 x 228mm it wall mounts, sits on a detailing cart or packs into a van, with a 2 year residential warranty. It comes as the machine only, the Standard Kit with a wall-mountable cage, 20 ft hose, metal gun and lance and four nozzles, or the Premium Kit with Active's own accessories.

Active 2.3. The high flow machine for the professional consumer: a brass endplate 5-piston pump and a 128 induction motor give 2.3 GPM, and it is serviceable and rebuildable. Choose the machine only, the Standard Pro Kit with a 50 ft 1/4 inch hose, swivel gun, 20 degree lance and nozzles, or the Premium Kit.

Active 3.0. The flagship, for car detailing as well as driveways and patios: 3.0 GPM at 1000 PSI working pressure from a patented 5-piston pump and a low-speed induction motor, so it rinses quickly, feeds a foam cannon well and runs fairly quietly. The machine only comes with four spray nozzles and a 1.65mm foam cannon orifice, and the Premium Kit adds the full accessory set.

The Premium Kits. Each adds a 50 ft 5/16 inch hose, a swivel gun, a bent lance, a 1000ml foam cannon and an outlet adaptor, all with fully machined 304 stainless steel fittings. All Active machines run on corded mains power.

Active foam cannon, hoses and storage

Snow foam. The Active Premium Snow Foam Cannon has brass and stainless steel internals, an adjustable spray pattern and dilution control for thick or light foam, and a wide-mouth 1 litre bottle that is easy to fill and hard to tip over.

Upgrade kit. The Active Premium Accessory Kit turns another machine into an Active setup: an M22-14mm to 3/8 inch adapter, a 50 ft 5/16 inch steel braided rubber hose with 304 stainless steel quick connects at both ends, and the Active swivel gun, whose internal swivel stops the hose tangling.

Reach and storage. The 15 Metre Extension Hose gives more reach round the car without moving the machine, and the Active Wall Mount holds the washer off the floor in powder-coated steel, with an open frame for the hose and cable.

Using it safely. Keep the nozzle at least 12 inches from the paint, as Active advises, rinse from the top down and let snow foam do the loosening before any contact wash.
