Active built the 2.3 from its work on the Active 2.0 for the professional consumer. An updated brass endplate 5-Piston Pro Pump and a 128 induction motor give 2.3 GPM at 1100 PSI working pressure, 1500 PSI peak, and Active quotes a combined output of 2,500 cleaning units. The machine is serviceable and rebuildable.

This listing is the machine on its own (Active code AP-SE14UK(02)), for anyone who already owns a hose, gun and lance. Ready-to-wash sets are sold as their own products: the Active 2.3 Standard Pro Kit and the Active 2.3 Premium Kit.

  • Active supplies a 4.6 size orifice to keep the current draw under 15A, and warns that any other orifice must not take the draw above 15A, or the microswitch and capacitor can be damaged.

How To Use

Using it

  1. Stand the machine on a flat, stable surface where spray and run-off cannot reach the plug.
  2. Connect the water supply and a steel braided high pressure hose, and check every connection has locked.
  3. Turn the water on, squeeze the trigger to purge air, then switch on at the rocker switch.
  4. On paintwork, use a wide rinse nozzle and keep the lance a sensible distance from the surface.
  5. Switch off and squeeze the trigger to release pressure before changing nozzles or accessories.

Cleaning and storage

  1. Switch off, unplug and turn off the water, then squeeze the trigger to release trapped pressure.
  2. Disconnect the hoses and let water drain from the gun, lance and nozzles.
  3. Rinse snow foam and chemical residue off your accessories with clean water.
  4. Lift the machine carefully, as Active lists it at 20kg with its frame.
  5. Store it indoors and protected from frost, and have leaks or pressure loss checked early.

Top Tip: Active strongly recommends steel braided hoses with the 2.3, so check any hose you add is steel braided.

Active

Active is the pressure washer brand of Active Products Inc., a Canadian company led by its founder and president, James Hou. It builds compact electric pressure washers around car enthusiasts and their feedback. Its own timeline runs from the development and patent of its 5-piston pump in 2018, through direct sales of the VE52 and VE51 washers in North America from 2020 and the launch of the Active 2.0 in 2022, to the swivel gun in spring 2024, the foam cannon, lance and hose later that year, and the Active 2.3 Compact and reels and storage in 2025. Active sets its washers at about 1000 PSI with as much water flow as possible, which it sees as the ideal balance for washing cars safely.

Active 2.0. The compact machine, made for DIY detailers and hobbyists: a patented 5-piston pump and a Universal 9650 motor give 2 GPM of flow, and at 431 x 203 x 228mm it wall mounts, sits on a detailing cart or packs into a van, with a 2 year residential warranty. It comes as the machine only, the Standard Kit with a wall-mountable cage, 20 ft hose, metal gun and lance and four nozzles, or the Premium Kit with Active's own accessories.

Active 2.3. The high flow machine for the professional consumer: a brass endplate 5-piston pump and a 128 induction motor give 2.3 GPM, and it is serviceable and rebuildable. Choose the machine only, the Standard Pro Kit with a 50 ft 1/4 inch hose, swivel gun, 20 degree lance and nozzles, or the Premium Kit.

Active 3.0. The flagship, for car detailing as well as driveways and patios: 3.0 GPM at 1000 PSI working pressure from a patented 5-piston pump and a low-speed induction motor, so it rinses quickly, feeds a foam cannon well and runs fairly quietly. The machine only comes with four spray nozzles and a 1.65mm foam cannon orifice, and the Premium Kit adds the full accessory set.

The Premium Kits. Each adds a 50 ft 5/16 inch hose, a swivel gun, a bent lance, a 1000ml foam cannon and an outlet adaptor, all with fully machined 304 stainless steel fittings. All Active machines run on corded mains power.

Active foam cannon, hoses and storage

Snow foam. The Active Premium Snow Foam Cannon has brass and stainless steel internals, an adjustable spray pattern and dilution control for thick or light foam, and a wide-mouth 1 litre bottle that is easy to fill and hard to tip over.

Upgrade kit. The Active Premium Accessory Kit turns another machine into an Active setup: an M22-14mm to 3/8 inch adapter, a 50 ft 5/16 inch steel braided rubber hose with 304 stainless steel quick connects at both ends, and the Active swivel gun, whose internal swivel stops the hose tangling.

Reach and storage. The 15 Metre Extension Hose gives more reach round the car without moving the machine, and the Active Wall Mount holds the washer off the floor in powder-coated steel, with an open frame for the hose and cable.

Using it safely. Keep the nozzle at least 12 inches from the paint, as Active advises, rinse from the top down and let snow foam do the loosening before any contact wash.
