Expert Notes

Every ceramic coating needs a period when water, bugs and bird droppings have to be kept off it. Release is CarPro's answer for busy studios and impatient detailers: a protective layer that lets a freshly coated car go back on the road.

Away from coatings it is a simple, hyper-slick quick detailer for coated or uncoated cars, and CarPro US says it can even be used in the sun.

CarPro US explains the name: it lets you release a freshly coated car earlier with some temporary protection, and it lets water and dirt release easily from the surface.

Perfect For / Suitable Surfaces

  • Fresh ceramic coatings
  • Coated paint
  • Uncoated paint

Caution: On a freshly coated car, wait 4 hours or IR cure before applying. Not a cleaner for heavy dirt.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CarPro Release for?

Temporary protection for fresh ceramic coatings while they cure, and use as a standalone quick detailer.

How soon can I apply Release after coating?

CarPro US says to wait 4 hours, or IR cure the coating, first.

Can I use Release as a quick detailer?

Yes. CarPro says it can be used as a standalone quick detailer on coated or uncoated cars.

Is Release a cleaner?

No. CarPro US says it is fine for light dust, but use a waterless wash such as ECH2O for heavier dirt.

Can I use Release in the sun?

Yes, according to CarPro US.

Can I use Release as a wipe-down before coating?

No. CarPro US says it can harm the paint's ability to bond with the coating. Use CarPro Eraser for the pre-coating wipe-down.

HQ Suggests Tips & Insights

  1. Use fresh towel sides as you go around the car.
  2. Use it as a quick detailer for light dust between washes.
  3. Use it as a drying aid on the wet car.
  4. For heavier dirt use a waterless wash such as ECH2O, as Release is not a cleaner.
  5. Test it on plastic or rubber for a few days before wider use.
  6. Use CarPro InnerQD for the interior instead.
  7. Expect the protection to wash off with the first Reset wash.

The Brand

CarPro

CarPro is the car care brand behind CQUARTZ, one of the ceramic coatings that brought nano-protection from professional detailing studios to everyday enthusiasts. Founded in 2009 by car enthusiasts, CarPro develops and makes its products in its own laboratory and factory, and it has grown from a single coating into a complete system for paint, glass, wheels, tyres, plastics, leather and fabric.

The range is built to work together. The shampoos and snow foams clean a coated car without leaving gloss enhancers or silicones that would mask the coating, and the compounds and polishes are body shop safe, with no fillers to hide defects. The same products suit a first-time coating at home and the upkeep of a professional CQUARTZ installation.

At The Drivers HQ we stock the CarPro products our customers use most, from Reset shampoo and IronX fallout remover to the CQ UK 3.0 coating, with much of the range on the shelf at our Ilkeston shop.

The CarPro range: prepare, protect, maintain

CarPro organises its products around the order you work on a car, which makes it easy to build a kit that suits your car and the time you have.

Prepare. Clean and decontaminate first. Lift is a concentrated pre-wash snow foam, IronX dissolves iron fallout with an acid-free, pH-balanced formula and turns purple-red as it works, and TRIX removes iron and tar in one go. For paint correction, ClearCut takes out scratches as deep as P1000, Fixer cuts and finishes in a single step, and Reflect refines the finish before a coating. Eraser then removes polishing oils so the coating can bond.

Protect. CQ UK 3.0 is CarPro's consumer ceramic coating: 70% SiO2, applied from 3 to 40°C and rated for 18 to 24 months. There are dedicated coatings for film and plastic trim (CQUARTZ Skin), glass (GForce, built on CarPro's DQUARTZ nano-diamond technology) and leather (CQuartz Leather 2.0), plus quicker options such as HydrO2, a spray-on, rinse-off silica sealant rated for up to 6 months.

Maintain. Reset is the pH-neutral shampoo made for coated cars and dilutes 1:500. Hydro Foam washes and leaves a silica layer in one step, ECH2O is a waterless wash and quick detailer, and MFX restores the absorbency of your microfibre towels.

Shop CarPro by type: ceramic coatings, snow foam, iron and fallout removers, compounds and polishes, paint sealants and glass coatings.

Where to start with CarPro

New to CarPro? Start with the products that make the biggest difference to a normal wash: Reset, Lift and a pair of Dilute bottles, which have printed ratios from 1:1 to 1:30 so every concentrate is mixed correctly. WheelX is the CarPro product our customers buy most often: a ready-to-use wheel cleaner that is safe on coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Ready to protect your paint? Work in this order:

  • Wash with Lift and Reset, then remove iron fallout with IronX.
  • Polish if the paint needs it, from ClearCut for deeper marks to Reflect for a final finish.
  • Wipe each panel with Eraser and apply CQ UK 3.0 one panel at a time.
  • Keep the coating at its best with Reset and a top-up of HydrO2 or Hydro Foam every few months.

For tyres and trim, DarkSide and Perl are the favourites: Perl dilutes up to 5:1, from a rich finish on tyres to a satin look on plastics, and ReTyre cleans tyres and rubber before you dress them.

Not sure what you need? Pop into our Ilkeston shop or send us a WhatsApp and we will help you put the right CarPro kit together for your car. We deliver CarPro across the UK by Royal Mail Tracked 24, free on orders over £100, or order online and collect from the shop.
