Full Description

CarPro CQUARTZ SiC is a ceramic paint coating with silicon carbide (SiC) added for extra chemical resistance. CarPro made it to continue where CQUARTZ TiO2 left off, with better resistance to water spots and minerals, deep gloss and a very slick finish.

CarPro also greatly improved the ease of use, so it is very easy to apply. It resists chemicals from pH 3 to 12 and is sold in 10ml, 30ml and 50ml bottles. Apply 2 coats, then keep it clean with CarPro Reset.

SiC sits beside CQUK 3.0 in the CarPro range. CarPro added silicon carbide for chemical resistance and improved its resistance to water spots and minerals, which suits a car that is often washed with hard tap water.

It is very slick on its own, which is why CarPro US says not to top it with Reload during the first few days. Let it cure, wash it with Reset, and use Reload every few months after that.

CarPro introduced SiC to mark ten years of CQUARTZ, continuing where the TiO2 formula left off, with easier application, more gloss and depth and a very slick finish.

How To Use

Prepare

  1. Wash the car, then remove iron fallout with Iron X and clay where contamination remains.
  2. Polish the paint to a high standard.
  3. Wipe every panel with CarPro Eraser to remove polishing oils.

Apply

  1. Work in good ambient light, out of direct sun and off hot panels.
  2. Do not shake. The contents can be under pressure, so open the bottle slowly, aim it away from your face and wear gloves.
  3. Wrap a suede applicator around the applicator block and drag one line of coating onto it.
  4. Spread across the paint in a criss-cross pattern, about 2 sq ft at a time.
  5. Level with a clean microfibre towel once it looks less wet but is not yet hard to wipe, usually about 5 minutes (3 to 15 depending on temperature and air flow).
  6. Change the suede every 2 panels or so.

Aftercare

  1. CarPro recommends 2 coats. Apply the next within 45 to 60 minutes, or wait until the following day.
  2. Keep the surface dry for at least 3 hours, and 24 hours for best results.
  3. Avoid detergents and chemicals for 5 days.
  4. Do not top with Reload in the first few days.

Top Tip: Unlike CQUK 3.0, SiC must not be shaken. Open it slowly, aim it away from you and wear gloves.

The CarPro range: prepare, protect, maintain

CarPro organises its products around the order you work on a car, which makes it easy to build a kit that suits your car and the time you have.

Prepare. Clean and decontaminate first. Lift is a concentrated pre-wash snow foam, IronX dissolves iron fallout with an acid-free, pH-balanced formula and turns purple-red as it works, and TRIX removes iron and tar in one go. For paint correction, ClearCut takes out scratches as deep as P1000, Fixer cuts and finishes in a single step, and Reflect refines the finish before a coating. Eraser then removes polishing oils so the coating can bond.

Protect. CQ UK 3.0 is CarPro's consumer ceramic coating: 70% SiO2, applied from 3 to 40°C and rated for 18 to 24 months. There are dedicated coatings for film and plastic trim (CQUARTZ Skin), glass (GForce, built on CarPro's DQUARTZ nano-diamond technology) and leather (CQuartz Leather 2.0), plus quicker options such as HydrO2, a spray-on, rinse-off silica sealant rated for up to 6 months.

Maintain. Reset is the pH-neutral shampoo made for coated cars and dilutes 1:500. Hydro Foam washes and leaves a silica layer in one step, ECH2O is a waterless wash and quick detailer, and MFX restores the absorbency of your microfibre towels.

Where to start with CarPro

New to CarPro? Start with the products that make the biggest difference to a normal wash: Reset, Lift and a pair of Dilute bottles, which have printed ratios from 1:1 to 1:30 so every concentrate is mixed correctly. WheelX is the CarPro product our customers buy most often: a ready-to-use wheel cleaner that is safe on coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Ready to protect your paint? Work in this order:

  • Wash with Lift and Reset, then remove iron fallout with IronX.
  • Polish if the paint needs it, from ClearCut for deeper marks to Reflect for a final finish.
  • Wipe each panel with Eraser and apply CQ UK 3.0 one panel at a time.
  • Keep the coating at its best with Reset and a top-up of HydrO2 or Hydro Foam every few months.

For tyres and trim, DarkSide and Perl are the favourites: Perl dilutes up to 5:1, from a rich finish on tyres to a satin look on plastics, and ReTyre cleans tyres and rubber before you dress them.
