Full Description

CarPro TarX is a tar and adhesive remover based on all-natural active ingredients. It dissolves stubborn tar, rubber and insect splatter without aggressive scrubbing, harmful chlorinated solvents or other harsh chemicals, and starts working on sticky contaminants as soon as it touches them.

The fast-acting formula is safe on most vehicle surfaces. Spray it on a dry surface, let it react for 2 to 3 minutes, then wash it off with car shampoo. CarPro US also gives a careful method for PPF. Sizes: 500ml, 1L and 4L.

Tar on the lower panels is the classic job for TarX: spray, wait a couple of minutes and the tar softens and wipes away instead of being scrubbed into the paint.

Always finish with a shampoo wash, as CarPro directs, and reapply any wax or sealant on the treated area. For tar and iron together, CarPro TriX does both in one step.

CarPro US warns that bonded tar can degrade the surface over time and makes washing harder. A short dwell softens it so it wipes away without heavy scrubbing or risk to the finish.

How To Use

Remove tar

  1. Shake well.
  2. Spray on a dry, cool surface, or brush or wipe it on.
  3. Let it react for 2 to 3 minutes. Do not leave it on for more than 7 to 10 minutes.
  4. Wipe off the residue and reapply if needed.
  5. Wash the area with car shampoo.

On PPF (CarPro US)

  1. Work on a small, cool section at a time.
  2. Do not leave it on for longer than 30 seconds.
  3. Rinse off thoroughly with shampoo or a waterless wash.

Top Tip: Spray TarX on a dry surface, not a wet one, and wash it off with shampoo once the tar has gone.

How long do I leave TarX on?

Let it react for 2 to 3 minutes, and do not leave it on for more than 7 to 10 minutes. Then wash with car shampoo.

  3. Work in a well-ventilated area, out of direct sun.
  4. Reapply wax or sealant on the area afterwards, as TarX will affect it.
  5. If a spot fights back, put TarX on a microfibre and lift it.
  6. Neutralise it afterwards with CarPro ECH2O or Reset.

The CarPro range: prepare, protect, maintain

CarPro organises its products around the order you work on a car, which makes it easy to build a kit that suits your car and the time you have.

Prepare. Clean and decontaminate first. Lift is a concentrated pre-wash snow foam, IronX dissolves iron fallout with an acid-free, pH-balanced formula and turns purple-red as it works, and TRIX removes iron and tar in one go. For paint correction, ClearCut takes out scratches as deep as P1000, Fixer cuts and finishes in a single step, and Reflect refines the finish before a coating. Eraser then removes polishing oils so the coating can bond.

Protect. CQ UK 3.0 is CarPro's consumer ceramic coating: 70% SiO2, applied from 3 to 40°C and rated for 18 to 24 months. There are dedicated coatings for film and plastic trim (CQUARTZ Skin), glass (GForce, built on CarPro's DQUARTZ nano-diamond technology) and leather (CQuartz Leather 2.0), plus quicker options such as HydrO2, a spray-on, rinse-off silica sealant rated for up to 6 months.

Maintain. Reset is the pH-neutral shampoo made for coated cars and dilutes 1:500. Hydro Foam washes and leaves a silica layer in one step, ECH2O is a waterless wash and quick detailer, and MFX restores the absorbency of your microfibre towels.

Where to start with CarPro

New to CarPro? Start with the products that make the biggest difference to a normal wash: Reset, Lift and a pair of Dilute bottles, which have printed ratios from 1:1 to 1:30 so every concentrate is mixed correctly. WheelX is the CarPro product our customers buy most often: a ready-to-use wheel cleaner that is safe on coated, chrome and powder-coated wheels.

Ready to protect your paint? Work in this order:

  • Wash with Lift and Reset, then remove iron fallout with IronX.
  • Polish if the paint needs it, from ClearCut for deeper marks to Reflect for a final finish.
  • Wipe each panel with Eraser and apply CQ UK 3.0 one panel at a time.
  • Keep the coating at its best with Reset and a top-up of HydrO2 or Hydro Foam every few months.

For tyres and trim, DarkSide and Perl are the favourites: Perl dilutes up to 5:1, from a rich finish on tyres to a satin look on plastics, and ReTyre cleans tyres and rubber before you dress them.
