Full Description

This is the 4 inch orange Hex-Logic pad, the medium-heavy cut step in Chemical Guys' range. It removes light to moderate scratches, swirls, oxidation and paint defects and brings back clarity and depth, and the Hex-Logic pattern spreads polish over the surface for an even cut.

V-cut channels in the hexagon pattern draw in air to cool the pad and the panel, the rounded profile follows body curves, and a bevelled edge keeps the spinning backing plate away from paint. The hook-and-loop backing is breathable. Chemical Guys also makes the orange pad in 5.5 inch and 6.5 inch. One pad is included.

How To Use

Using it

  1. Fit the pad centrally on a hook-and-loop backing plate made for a 4in pad.
  2. Apply five small dots of compound or polish to the face, as Chemical Guys advises.
  3. Mist a light coat of pad conditioner onto the face before starting.
  4. Test a small area first to judge the level of cut.
  5. Work small sections with slow, controlled passes and light, even pressure.
  6. Wipe off residue with a clean microfibre towel and inspect under good light.
  7. Refine with a white polishing pad, then apply protection with a black pad.

Cleaning and storage

  1. Brush out the pad face between sections to clear spent product.
  2. Wash in warm water with a dedicated pad cleaner after each session.
  3. Squeeze water out gently and never twist or wring the foam.
  4. Dry face down so moisture drains away from the backing.
  5. Store dry pads in a sealed bag or box, sorted by cut level.

Top Tip: Start with the orange pad and a cutting polish on a test spot, then refine with a softer pad.

Shampoos. Mr. Pink is a pH-balanced shampoo that Chemical Guys says is safe on existing protection, used in a bucket, foam gun or foam cannon; its dose is 1 to 3oz (about 30 to 90ml) in a 5 gallon (about 19 litre) bucket. Maxi-Suds II comes original, Grape Fusion and Strawberry Clear. Also Glossworkz, Clean Slate, Stripper Suds and, for matte paint, Meticulous Matte Auto Wash with its Detailer & Spray Sealant.
