Expert Notes

Koch-Chemie Micro Cut M3.02 is the pure micro-finishing polish in the Koch-Chemie paint correction range. It is designed for permanent removal of holograms, streaks, fine scratches and sanding marks up to P3000, making it the correct choice after heavier correction stages where the paint needs clarity rather than more cut. The silicone-oil-free formula is an important difference compared with Micro Cut & Finish P3.01, because M3.02 is better suited to final refinement before proper panel wipe and ceramic coating preparation. It works especially well on dark, soft or sensitive paint where holograms and machine haze are easy to see under strong lighting. Use it with a Micro Cut Pad and a forced rotation orbital polisher for best results, or with a rotary polisher where suitable.

Paintwork preparation

  1. Wash the vehicle thoroughly.
  2. Remove bonded contamination where required.
  3. Dry the paintwork completely.
  4. Inspect holograms, fine scratches and machine haze under suitable lighting.
  5. Correct heavier defects first if needed.
  6. Make sure the paint is cool before polishing.
  7. Shake the bottle before use.

Machine polishing

  1. Use a Koch-Chemie Micro Cut Pad.
  2. Moisten a new or dry pad fully with polish before use.
  3. Apply Micro Cut M3.02 evenly to the working area with the machine switched off.
  4. Polish in a crosswise pattern using medium pressure.
  5. Work until a transparent film appears.
  6. Allow the abrasive to fully break down during polishing.
  7. Reduce pressure for the final finishing passes.
  8. Remove residue with a clean ultrasonically cut microfibre towel.
  9. Inspect the finish under strong lighting.

After polishing

  1. Do not use the same pad with other polishes or compounds.
  2. Keep Micro Cut pads separate from heavy cutting pads.
  3. Panel wipe thoroughly before applying ceramic coating.
  4. Check for remaining haze, trails or missed holograms.
  5. Repeat only where fine defects remain.
  6. Store away from frost and excessive heat.

Top Tip: Use M3.02 as the final refinement stage after correction, especially on dark paint. Use P3.01 instead only when you want fine correction plus wax-based sealing in one step.

The Brand

Koch-Chemie

Koch-Chemie began in Germany in 1968 when trained carpenter Hans Koch started developing his own polishing compounds after becoming dissatisfied with the vehicle care products available at the time. His interest in surface finishing became the foundation of the company, with the first Koch-Chemie products moving into serial production during the 1970s. The business has remained based in Unna, Germany since 1971 and has expanded from polishing into vehicle cleaning, preparation, car wash chemistry, workshop products and industrial cleaning.

That history still shows clearly in Koch-Chemie's paint correction range. Heavy Cut, Fine Cut and Micro Cut compounds are designed as defined stages of correction and refinement, supported by corresponding pads and preparation products rather than being treated as isolated bottles of polish.

A Detailing Range Built as a System

A Detailing Range Built as a System

Koch-Chemie approaches vehicle care as a complete chemical and process system. Its detailing catalogue covers pre-cleaners, wheel cleaners, foams, shampoos, fallout and tar removal, polishing compounds, sealants, interior cleaners, glass products and specialist treatments. Familiar products including Green Star, Pol Star, Heavy Cut H9.02, Fine Cut F6.01 and Micro Cut M3.02 each occupy a specific position within that process.

The company's ProductSystem takes this further by dividing its chemistry into ten application groups with individual colour codes. Product abbreviations and technical information are incorporated into the labelling so that users can identify what a product is designed to do and where it belongs within the wider system. This structured approach is one of the most identifiable characteristics of Koch-Chemie.

Developed and Produced in Unna

Developed and Produced in Unna

Koch-Chemie operates its own research and development department at its site in Unna, Germany. Formulations are tested for measurable properties including durability, gloss and hydrophobic behaviour, with development also taking material compatibility, regional conditions and professional working processes into account. The company works directly with the automotive industry, car wash operators and industrial customers when developing and refining its chemistry.

Production is also carried out in Unna, where Koch-Chemie mixes its formulations, fills and labels containers and distributes finished products. Its production operation works within DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management and DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management systems. This combination of in-house development, manufacturing and a clearly defined product system is a substantial part of what separates Koch-Chemie from brands that primarily source and market third-party formulations.
